So I finally got around to watching Pans Labyrinth on HD, and saw that it outputs in 7.1 audio. Fantastic, I have a onkyo txsr-504 which does 7.1, and I have Boston Acoustics 7.1 Speakers setup, sweet. Well I put the movie in and no 7.1, only 5.1. Doing some extensive researching, it turns out that the only way I can true 7.1 is through HDMI or analog. So what do I do? I go out and buy the Onkyo TXSR-805, and it rocks. Took about an hour to set the whole thing up and wire manage. I finish sit back and play the movie. Still no 7.1, now I'm getting pissed, so a double, triple, quadruple check all the settings, cables and calibrations, the whole nine yards. I couldn't figure out why, then it hit me. I have a Toshiba hd-xa1 HD DVD player, great player, but alas it does not support output in 7.1. All that time and money spent for a player that doesn't output 7.1, Oh well, guess I'll just have to save my pennies for a HD-A35 on ebay. Nonetheless, the receiver rocks out on audio!!

Dude buying a Toshiba A35 when you already have an XA1 would be a complete waste of money. You won't be able to buy any new release HD DVD's in the future so why buy another deck to play the very limited number of discs you have that are 7.1????

You must have more money than me...
I agree about the Onhyo 805 by the way..that receiver rocks I picked it up a month ago.

That is true, and the one movie that is 7.1 really doesn't justify me spending the money on an obsolete player. But then again, the 805 can simulate a 7.1 output for 5.1 and the a35 is a 1080P player, where the xa1 is only 1080i. If i find an A35 under $200, maybe Ill consider it. Otherwise I have my Blu Ray player for everything else. Thanks for looking out though.
