How much did you all pay for your HD receivers on Dish Network? We just got service a few months ago (more like four) and I was trying to upgrade to an HD receiver to go with my HDTV, but they are asking for $150...what do you think?

Oh, and I like how Dish is marketing HD as HD Turbo... ...makes no sense, but oh well...

I have DirecTV and I love my service. However, this company always gives thr FREE perks to it's new customers. They never and I mean never reward there long time customers. (I have been a DirecTV customer for 8 years now) So when my first generation HD Receiver became obsolete, they were going to try and charge me 300.00 for a new one. Well I told them to shut off my service, that I would be switching to Comcast, who by the way gives you all the equipment for free. All these sattelite companies and the cable companies, they are like cell phone companies, they make their money on the service not the equipment. So after the threat and speaking to a supervisor, I payed nothing.
So if you are a new DISH customer, well you should be getting all your equipment for free. And if not, just tell them that you are the ANTI-Christ and if they do not give it to you, you will take their first born LOL Just Joking!!!!

I just don't wanna pay $150 for the receiver...or get yet another service, in this case, Directv, since they are the ones who offer the most HD channels...go figure my new found love for HD...

If you have at&t uverse service in your area you might want to look into it instead. No dish is required and you get 3 receivers for free including a hd dvr. Its a pretty good service in terms of cable signal and channel availability. It also allows hd channels to pick up on any receiver in your home. The only drawback is that the receivers can only access the hd channels one at a time. Me and my wife have to fight sometimes over who gets to watch the hd channels but at least we don't have to pay for additional hd receivers since all the receivers can pick up hd.

I just dumped Crapcast for Directv and couldn't be happier. I got installation, 2 standard receivers and an HD DVR for free. I went from 15 HD channels to 95 soon to be 130. And considering Dish Network and Directv will eventually merge, you might want to look into jumping ship sooner rather than later.

Dishnet is the same hardware as ExpressVU in Canada. The HD PVR I can get a wholesale for around $329 CDN. When I moved to the states, I brought the older 920 down with me, and flash programmed it with the Dishnet stream and presto US service! When I brought it back with me, I loaded it into the Bell stream and Presto! Back to bell. So for you guys looking for a deal try the Canada ebay as well. You can save yourself money. Once the firmware hits a different stream it should program for you. It worked for me.

Really?

Anyways, since I can't get AT&T's Uverse, I might end up paying the $$$ for the HD receiver...
