Lionsgate has announced that their fiscal first-quarter home entertainment revenue is up 47% from the same period last year, mostly due to the increase in sales of their films on the Blu-ray disc format. For the quarter ending June 30th, revenue was $152.2M, up from $103.8M a year earlier. With overall spending similar to last year, Lionsgate is gradually increasing their market share against the larger studios

honkyspade,

Hmmmm, that's, what?, four or five posts from you today, all of them touting or defending Blu-ray in some way or another. I thought the format war was over, or is Sony hedging its bets?

Movies like the Saw franchise are a goldmine for them. Cheap to make and they always bring in the $$$. You might see more Saw movies than Friday the 13th before they're done.
