Could somebody please explain exactly why Lucas is waiting so long to release all the Indy films on Blu?

I mean, they've already had a 4K restoration, the format war is over, Blu-ray is fully developed, Profile 2.0 is good to go, prices have dropped sufficiently, the customer base is now quite large, the format's future is not in doubt, and excitement over Indy is higher at this point than it will be in, say, a year from now.

Additionally, I know of people who are actually holding off buying into Blu-ray until the likes of Indy and Star Wars are out there.

Sure, he'll do the usual thing with the multiple special ultra super mega edition box-sets with game tie-ins and silly souvenirs, and it may go on for years... but why not start now, while Indy is riding as high as he'll ever be?

WHAT is he waiting for?

Special Features and Cover Art now viewable for all 3 editions (single disc DVD, 2-disc DVD, & 2-disc Blu-ray) - click on the ^above News story link, and then scroll down to the bottom (click on Cover Art for any edition). Note: the Blu-ray rear cover has not yet been released from Paramount.

JOE, it is about time that you drop a name or two from your posts.

Anyway, collectors crap like that skull is just plain retarded. The LOTR sets had different minatures, that were useless as well. I mean how pathetic to open up your movie collectors pack to get book/DVD end to keep you storage compartment/shelf neat... Yikes that is sad. Isn't your purchase to be about the movie? Maybe Lucas was waiting for an HD DVD comeback so he could actually release on-line content. Sorry shameless stab, at Blu-Ray development.

Yeah, I'd much rather see more Digibook-type releases (Warner) that include lots of photos, info and trivia about the movie itself.

Thanks Joe!

I can see a photo book being relative to a movie release. My cousin works for Paramount and Universal as a lighting Director. They take hundreds of off camera shots that would be perfect for public release! I have signed photos from Kevin Costner, Anthony Hopkins, and Brad Pitt. Not like I wanted to admit the Pitt ones, but the actors are very approachable on site...

Quote: the customer base is now quite large, the format's future is not in doubt,

Only if this were true, you would have your Indy/Star Wars on Blu-ray.

Falcon,

He does re-release many times but they are always in sets. That's all I meant. I wouldn't be surprised if after they release the whole set he adds a couple minutes to each movie and releases again, lol. I have never seen a single release movie from him without releasing all of the others on that format as well, have you?

I'm still waiting for a re-release of the original Jurassic Park. I mean, the current release is worth more than many 2-disc editions lately (with its many special features), but the pq has a lot to be desired, and having no DTS on most of the editions is a shame...however, the re-release must have to be for blu-ray...

Don't really care for Lost World, but do for JP3, a great popcorn eye candy movie.

EDIT: By the way, have you seen how overpriced the MSRP for the single disc edition is?? I mean, $29.99??? WTF?!?!
