seriously, I wish they stop re-releasing movies over and over again, my wallet cannot keep doing this. First indian jones, then star wars, then all the damn disney movies, now one of my favorites, casino royale. Seriously, I know the studios make mucho bux off of these, but how many times can they a movie with even more behind the scenes footage and junk?

Here's one way to save money. Quit buying the Disney ones. Waste of money to begin with.

Ron,

You want studios to stop re-releasing their movies in new editions (often better editions) because you personally cannot afford to keep buying them? Wouldn't the most sensible idea be simply not to buy them? I haven't noticed Disney or Warners or Sony coming to people's houses and holding guns to their heads.

I see reissues as good because if the picture and sound are improved enough on a film I already own, I might be tempted to get it again. And if it's a film I like but don't already own, then I'm doubly tempted to buy.

But, yeah, a person does need to use a little self-restraint, while giving other people the free right to do whatever they please.

I agree with John, (even though paradoxically John will say I'm against him because... well just because it's his "groove").

I own over 1,200 DVDs. I've perhaps replaced at most 25 on HD DVD/Blu-ray and only because these were GREAT movies that I can watch more than once. Even fewer have I double-dipped on DVD before only. This is a choice, and no one points a gun to your head. I'll replace more of the great ones... looking forward to Ghost Busters, Carrie, Young Frankenstein, Poltergeist, The Shawshank Redemption, etc. coming up. But even that is just 5 more replacements over the next few months. Not a big deal!

Two words of advice for Ron (or anyone else who complains about studio re-releases pulling a lure for your income)...

NETFLIX

BLOCKBUSTER

You can rent movies (online is the best option) in low monthly-fee plans, starting at around for $8.99 (for unlimited rentals each month - 1 disc out at a time), or other monthly-fee plans for 2, 3, or 4 discs out at a time.

So... don't want to keep buying? Save your money for buying just certain must-have titles, and RENT THE REST.

Like John said, if there is improved A/V quality, it would be good to replace an old edition (like many of those WB releases), specially if it is on HD.

However, we have already seen blu-ray re-releases! Casino Royale is the first example...shame...

As for me, only few double-dips. Apocalypse Now Redux and the Complete Dossier. Monsters, Inc. R1 and R4 (for the Spanish audio). Blade Runner and the 2-disc edition (for the special features). Unintentionally Die Another Day by buying the Ultimate Boxset. The last one being Hellboy DC (I just needed to have it ).

I already stopped having impulse buys on Tuesdays...except for Wal-Mart's $5 bin...

Oh mvckalel, Apocalypse Now I would re-buy without thought on Blu-ray if it were nicely remastered. You're making me drool!

exactly, just keep getting regular DVDs for them, and you're all set.

also, sometimes a movie sooo behind the scenes, it might be behind your tv, or the wall behind the set
