What's the deal with gas and groceries!? I can't take it anymore! I'm sick and tired of food and gas going through the roof! It's no wonder people think hi-def anything is too expensive! How can anyone afford it with all these high gas and grocery prices!

"I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!!!"

I can certainly relate to that. Unfortunately, our dependency on fossil fuels is downright scary. Without it, the country would literally come to a screeching halt. The cost of transporting things is trickling down to our necessities. Not only do you see things going up in price, many consumer products are shrinking in quantity. What's really sad is that the technology and capacity to run on better energy sources (natural) is there but greed has prevented these advances to be made.

Something interesting...

I was driving home last night, and on the radio (one of those 'overnight' Art Bell-type programs), there was discussion about a scientist who's developed a system of turning anything that grows out of the ground and converting it to fossil fuels. His device is scheduled to begin strong testing in the coming months, and that he's working with the U.S. military on these tests.

I didn't have the time to keep listening beyond about 6-7 minutes, but if this turns out to be an "energy breakthrough" over the coming year, it would revolutionize our energy dependence on foreign imports. The estimate given was if the tests work as planned, his device could eventually produce up to another million barrels of oil a day.

Hope this developes.

By the way, I always love your posts Tim

No fossil fuels are EVIL no matter how clean or efficient.

It's not the expense of transporting oil. It's who's selling it. The entire world dances at the beat these oil companies dictate. Every time there's some kind of crisis the jump the price up.
Up to the point that the dollar was worth Cr*p, so they changed the system. I mean, look around,
Russia invaded Georgia, they marched all the way to the capital, the US foreign office is in direct conflict with the Russians, news organizations call this the biggest diplomatic US-RUS fallout since the cold war and the oil, for the past 2 weeks, is getting cheaper (and "surprisingly" the dollar higher)

As for domestic economy and why the dollar has reached bottom, you have to understand that war is expensive, and the US government is "borrowing" money from the federal bank which in its turn, gives the cash to the government with interest. There's something like 20% i think of interest on each dollar they borrow. So that throws the country into a perpetual debt.

Btw, just before i signed up to write here i came across this on the apple trailer webpage:
http://www.apple.com/trailers/independent/iousa/

i mean, if u read smt about economic growth or the american economic system you would already know what they're talking about in the trailer.

But it can help you forget about them, if only for a few hours.
