Okay, so I went to Circuit City (Prison Break S3 was on sale for $26.99), and just as I was waiting in line (for the only available cashier open), this lady handed the salesgirl a few DVDs, and she had Dexter S2...which is actually released on August 19...so the girl scans it and tells the customer she can't buy it...

Can they really do any worse??

it's not the girl's fault...she did her job. blame the people stocking the shelves.

maybe somebody was having a bad day, so what, happens all the time. surely not something to get bent out of shape over and say that all CC's are bad, and have poor customer service is it? maybe it's just your store that sucks? mine is just fine. (even though i basicly sold my tele. to myself by explaining to the old guy what all the features were. ) wait just a second..hmm, on second thought maybe they DO suck.

They know less than I do when I'm looking for electronics so I don't care that the help sucks there. However, this situation you explained above pisses me off. My store is the same. One line no matter how many people need to check out. And they put dvds out early just to deny the sale(they should have made an exception). The only reason I go to circuit city is to get movies the first week out because they usually have the cheapest deal.

CC isn't too bad but it's not my place of choice to buy electronics anymore. Their selection of everything pales in comparison with BB. BB on the other hand is not so perfect either, their rewards program even with their credit card is an insult. I bought my HDTV ($2100 with extended warranty), laptop ($800 with ex, warranty) and a PS3 ($800 with controller and 2 games) all at the same time and they only gave me $50 bucks in reward certificates.

I have a brand spanking new one about 8-miles from my house. I haven't been in it yet, but I have been in plenty CC's around the valley. Reasons I rarely go there are smaller selections of movies/music than BB, and their service is really no better than BB. Yeah, I see that "one" checker all the time and it's freaking annoying. The one that kills me (don't know if you get this where you live) is the door greeter, "welcome to . . . "! What a useful job that must be.

This happened to me about a month ago when the Batman Begins blu-ray set came out. My local CC put the movie out about 3 days early so I casually walked to the register to buy it. After it was scanned the girl behind the register told me she couldn't sell it to me. Since alot of stores have been breaking street date manufacturer's have started putting seals on their products to not sell by a certain day and they tell the stores to not permit a skew to ring up until the release date. I did notice though that Frys would sell stuff early alot up until earlier this year. I guess they were caught and someone fined them.
