acheezysmell, for someone that joined the forum this month you seem to remember stuff that happened in the past.

Quote:And scotsman i have yet to read anything other than anti-blu postings from you, and you promised to leave this site, after that troll wiped the floor with you

Thats not true - I posted a warning when Sony released firmware that was bricking PS3 - As much as I'm not a fan I didn't want anyone suffering that.

If I was anti Blu-ray I'd constantly be posting things like

Quote:There are several market-specific reasons why Blu-ray will not replace DVD. But historically, no mainstream media format has ever been supplanted by a slightly improved, compatible product. For instance, digital audio tape could not displace the compact cassette, S-VHS did not supplant VHS, and neither Super Audio CD nor DVD-Audio replaced the CD. Likewise, Blu-ray presents no practical advantage over standard DVD—such as added convenience or longer play—whereas that was the case when vinyl records replaced wax, CD replaced vinyl and DVD replaced VHS.

Yes I was going to leave when you - I mean ITSTHROBBING spouted racist remarks about my homeland but decided against it. Its been worth it - I managed to point out that you - I mean 'honkeyspade' actually beleived that digital downloads and VOD were the future and not Blu-ray.

Thank god Scotsman decided to stay!!
We need all the intelligent, informative and entertaining debate this site can handle.
acheezysmell, if you are so offended by what scotsman has to say, then you really should try out bluray.com and go pump each other up about how well 2% revenue against DVD is for Blu.
On topic, what movie would be the best to compare the new XDE. I would love to watch TDK for comparison but can't wait that long.
I know if I compared Total Recall on Blu to upconverted it would probably be tie, the transfer sucked on that one.

well, "goblet of fire" and "order of the phoenix" look great on blu-ray and hd dvd, so try comparing those discs to upcoverted sd dvds of the same titles.
