I was reading the press release for the Blu-Ray, and it sounds as though the set will include both versions of the film. Can we confirm this?

Would like to know where you read the ^above?
Genius Products recently released the DVD Cover Art and details for their 3-Disc Unrated Collector's Edition (Rob Zombie) <see the DVDTOWN entered info, and today the same cover art was released for the BD edition (not yet entered on DVDTOWN), which will contain the same bonus features (on 2 discs) that's on the above 3-disc DVD set.
Remember, the original Halloween film (John Carpenter) is controlled by Starz/Anchor Bay, not Genius Products, although they could easily co-op the versions together if they wanted to. But why do that, when separate editions means seperate PURCHA$ES.
Note: the 3-disc edition arrives Oct 7, the 2-disc Blu-ray arrives on Oct 21 - both Unrated Collector's editions of Rob Zombie's remake.

Maybe I misunderstood. Do you mean "both versions" as the John Carpenter original, and the Rob Zombie remake? (that's what I thought when I replied above).
Or do you mean just the Rob Zombie remake, and "both versions" is referring to the Rated version and also the Unrated version? If so then no, as the info released by Genius Products for the October editions is for the UNRATED version only.

Sorry, my mistake. The two versions I was speaking of were the theatrical and director's cut of the remake.

I like that old John Carpenter version the best. Cheesy for sure, and a bit low budge to say the least. But it was one of those genre greats for some reason. Perhaps it's the nostalgic factor at work here. I'm getting kinda old.

I think it's more than nostalgia, Sky. Carpenter's film really is good, low budget or not. It develops genuine suspense, made a star of Jamie Lee Curtis (and Carpenter), and helped usher in a whole new genre of slasher films. (It predated "Friday the 13th" by several years.) I don't know that the picture or sound quality were that good to begin with to warrant a high-def treatment, but it's a classic enough film for fans to want it in the best possible audiovisual presentation. I'll probably get it in BD.

Because I dislike you John, you should know how much we agreeing on certain films/things so often pisses me off!
(I'm kidding about the dislike thing ... since I know you take things pretty darn literally around here!)
The Internet can be that way sometimes.... you get "jaded" I guess and never know what's sarcasm or joking. My complaint about this message board is that that "winky thingy" still doesn't work!
Test! )
Edit: No joy

I've yet to see Zombie's remake, but most of what I heard was it was not that good (will rent the upcoming BD). But the Carpenter original is a classic of modern horror! I'm also a fan of John Carpenter's Vampires, and looking forward to when Sony brings this out on Blu-ray - the photography/hues are outstanding!
Oh, and his Warner film, Memoirs Of An Invisible Man is very underrated too.

Sky,
I don't dislike you. I've never disliked you. I don't dislike anybody. (Well, OK, that's a lie. I dislike itsthrobbing/stegma/acheezysmell/etc. because he's a shill and troll.) Sky, you're neither a shill nor a troll. I just got frustrated with you last year about the "Potter" EE thing. But I get frustrated with a lot of people, including my good friend Eddie. So don't despair of my seeming to disagree with you from time to time. You're an asset to the Message Board. Really.

Yeah Sky, remember some of the times I got frustrated with Eddie and Tim over the last few years, only to "make up" afterwards (usually
). I always look forward to Tim's comments now
, and I'm a fan of Eddie's reviews (most of 'em) too.
