OK, let me get this out, I loved Superman Returns. It is flawed, but it's a reboot/sequel that brings you up to date with the old movies and gives you a new take on them. Loved the cinematography (no other superhero movie lately comes close), the effects, Lex Luthor, the crystals, New Krypton...watching that opening credits scene is just one of the most magical moments ever, both for visuals, but specially for the music, oh, the music...however, it did suffer from being a longer than needed movie, a somewhat weak plot, and a weak Lois Lane.
According to this site, WB doesn't know what way to go...but I reflect upon this: Bryan Singer did a good job with X-Men, then he turned X-Men 2:X-Men United into arguably one of the best superhero movies ever with even better $ucce$$...why isn't WB supporting him for Man of Steel? Who would you think can take on the franchise (and please don't even think of saying Nolan, PLEASE)? Would you do a sequel to Returns? A reboot?
Don't you think that just like X1 evolved into X2, Bryan singer would do the same, with him even saying that he'll go all "Wrath of Khan" with MOS? I really want to see Superman fly again, with Singer, rather than with a new director. Blame Jude Law for not wanting to be Zod on Returns...

come up with a nice plot that compliments some of the cool things about returns, and covers some holes... i did enjoy some of that movie. i think a reboot would make fun of all the issues they've had with this. just keep it going, do a kickass job. give us the action returns lacked, plus more that is due
they also have some lawsuit issues

Correct me if I'm wrong but a little necklace of Kryptonite can turn Superman into someone with the strength of a baby but a small planet size Kryptonite ball is fairly easy for him to lift out of the ocean and fly away with, lol. Stupidity at its finest. That ruined the movie for me. Oh, yeah, it was really slow and dull too.
I did however love Kevin Spacey as Lex and the Superman actor was a good fit too.
A second movie from our xmen director could only get better than the first movie so I say give him another chance.

I think Singer is still the man to direct Supes. That island thing really pissed me off the first time I watched Returns, but I accepted it as a far-fetched mind-over-matter thing (it did nearly kill him) the 2nd time. It looked good, and aside from Bosworth and the silly Superman's kid subplot, it was good. I think Singer can really put together a great movie with plenty of action and less plot holes next time. X2 still stands (below the new Bat movies, however) as an example of how good a superhero movie can be.

He did 'recharge' himself before lifting the thing...and he was indeed in a comma after he pushed New Krypton out of space...my point again is, Singer did a good job with X1, and a great (almost excellent, better than TDK, yep) with X2, why can't WB trust him to go ahead with Man of Steel?

Now, let's see how much TDK will affect DC Comics superhero movies...of course, starting with Superman, IGN reports how Superman might be reintroduced, but why?? I don't want a "dark" Superman (thanks a lot TDK
), I don't want the Incredible Hulk...I want what Singer did with X2!! Damn you dirty apes, damn you WB!

I'm REALLY HOPING Zack Snyder doesn't f** up WATCHMEN. If all goes well, he may be the one to bring THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS into the movie screen.
The original Frank Miller epic was comprised of 4 graphic novels. If it NEEDS to be done as 4 movies, just to get this right, then so be it.
Rumor has it that Frank Miller already gave his blessing (for now).

If there's EVER A NEED to revive Superman's image, his little "tussle" with Batman in this story should do some good.
... because after "Superman Returns", his image is (similar) shown below, instead.

Apparently WB is planning an entire Superman reboot like Batman:
