SPOILER ALERT

I watched a sneak of this movie and it was very entertaining. It's about and retired CIA agent Bryan (Liam Neeson) who's teenaged daughter needs his permission to go to Paris with her best friend on vacation. Bryan is apprehensive about it but agrees to let her go on one condition, that she contacts him when she arrives and stay in contact while in Paris. Upon arriving in Paris he calls her cellphone to to see if she is OK when the conversation is abrupted by kidnappers. He then begins to seek information about who has taken his daughter from another ex agent who informs him that she been kidnapped to be sold in a human trafficing black market as a prostitute and slave and that he only has about 96 hrs. before he will never see her again.

Some directors fail to convey a sense of ruthlessness that captures your attention but director Pierre Morel hits it dead center. There are scenes that are shocking not in the grotesque but as for as what he does to people with information that will help in the recovery of his child. Written by Luc Besson (The Fifth Element) and Roger Mark Kamen with direction from Pierre Morel with a release date slated for September. This film has a certain type of Bourne atmosphere to it, the action is very well spaced and well done.

Here's a trailer

Tim, I'll telling you that this is one of the best action movies I've seen in awhile. As one reviewer put it, "SICK, SICK, AND MORE SICK".

Well, I hope I don't get too attached to the main character then have him killed from a lightsaber used by some villain in a lot of makeup.

I felt the same way about Liam Neeson in Star Wars.

Ah yes, "Taken"

I've seen this film in France a few months ago. It was released there earlier this year (EUROCORP that produced the film is owned by Luc Besson)

It's funny you mentioned bourne in your subject title. This is like watching Jason bourne after retiring for years, going back in action to save someone he loves. (This also applies to almost all of steven seagal's movies )
"Action" which unfortunately has nothing to do with any of the three "Bourne" Movies.

This guy's daughter goes on a trip to europe and basically gets kidnapped by a group of people that sell young, sedated women to foreign buyers. (The scheme with which the bad guys achieve their kidnappings is so bad and unbelievable, it's almost comical)
Daddy happens to hear everything over the phone (as you can see on the very well put-together trailer) and off he goes to save her.

Now, i like Liam neeson very much, and here you can see him do action but at the very end, not even a credible actor as him can save this movie from it's bad writing and poorly directed overly-done-before action sequences.

I Would suggest to skip the admission price, and go straight for the disc

Stop nagging Poster5.

That's the whole point of having a message board. We discuss things. There are many reasons why I didnt like the film. I Explained some of them. All i am saying is that if you are an action fan, this will disappoint.
