Bah, I was hoping for a director's cut. I figured, with del Toro's vision, there'd have to be one. The Director's Cut of the first film improved it, I was assuming the same would happen here.

Agreed, Hellboy's DC is better than the theatrical...but I think they gave him more freedom to do his cut...might buy it, really enjoyed the movie...

Hey Hellboy film fans!

Amazon has now listed the various DVD and BD editions of HELLBOY II: The Golden Army, and they are available for Pre-order (if interested). Universal has really put alot of effort (and extras) in the DVD & BD editions. I personally like the side-image cover pic (of the single-disc DVD editions) over the 2-disc & 3-disc DVD/BD editions. Check 'em out... (especially you Tim Raynor!)

If any of you guys look back in DVD history, the first release of "Hellboy I" was the theatrical version. The DC came months later and was assumed to only sell for a limited time. However, it became the consumers choice of the movie and made it as the Brooo-ray release of choice.

Therefore, if you like to watch the pocketbook for double-dips, "Hellboy II" is a prime target for this to take place. If anything, I'd wait it out a few months -- maybe even several months -- and see what the studio throws at us. If you need to see it that bad then rent.

"Hellboy II" was good enough for a fun popcorn film, but not enough to go into panic mode for it when it's released. I don't think I'll have any problems waiting for a better version down the road, and until that happens, rental will do fine for now.
Besides, I'm not giving the studio the satisfaction of a double-dip like they did to me with "Hellboy I".

Tim, you really think Del Toro will have a DC for this movie? Like I said above, he has stated that he was given the freedom to do what he wanted...still, the first Hellboy release (as well as Pan's), do have great features for the price...and I spent $7.50 on the first H release, and $10 for the DC at Walmart...

But the b-r is very tempting indeed...
