As some of you know we started HDDVD.org back in 2002. That was 4 years before the first HD disc format entered the US market. At that time many things was unclear about a possible upcoming disc format that could carry HD content. At that time there was still hope for one format out of the gate and no name for the format had been found. We thought that HD DVD would be a great name for such a format since it was "DVD like" functionality in HD. So, when it was possible to get the "HDDVD.org" name we did not hesitate.

As we have always stressed the name is not an indication of favoring one format over the other. Simply put we felt that it was a logic name at the time. Way before we knew about Blu-ray and HD DVD for that matter. With HD DVD gone we have since made it clear on the page that we would shift focus from two formats to ultimately one. Blu-ray. So, over time we have changed the text in the menu from "HDDVD.org" to "Blu-ray & HD," changed the url to "hddvd.org/bluray" and other small changes to clearly show what we are all about.

Today we make yet another change. The logo on the page has changed from "hddvd.org" to "Blu-ray and HD" as well. Leaving no doubt that we will continue to review both Blu-ray hard- and software.

Now excuse me. I need to get started on Heroes: Season 2 on Blu-ray
