I have a Pioneer Elite VSX-80TV receiver and it does not decode Dolby True HD or DTS-MA HD. It also doesn't take the audio off of my HDMI cable so I have to use a optical cable, digital coaxial or 7.1 analog inputs. I was talking to a co-worker and he said there is a huge difference between dolby digital and Dolby True HD and I should get a blu-ray player that has 7.1 analog outputs so I can get Dolby True HD or DTS-MA HD. My question is if I get a blu-ray player with 7.1 analog outputs does it sound as good as the sound over HDMI? Also if my receiver doesn't decode Dolby True HD or DTS-MA HD audio but the blu-ray player does will I still hear the Dolby True HD/DTS-MA HD or will my receiver output a lower quality codec??? Finally is there a huge difference between dolby digital and Dolby True HD??? Thanks for your input!!!
