You don't see a marked difference between the Singer films and the garbage Ratner threw out?

Not a hard on (though I freely admit to thinking the man is attractive). An appreciation for the elements he brought to the forefront of the two films which define the X-Men universe. Themes of being an outsider, being discriminated against, a small group protecting a larger one who doesn't want them, an acceptance of all people.
All of which was thrown out the window by X3 in favor of kewl computer effects and the assassination of every single character, from a cameo by James Marsden all the way to Magneto and Professor X. All Ratner and Fox cared about was Wolverine, who just happens to be the most bland character in the trilogy.
Jason, there, I said it

I have it on BD and might get to it at some point.
Cyclops is dead, Jean/Phoenix is dead, Prof. X (in the guide of Patrick Stewart) is probably dead.
Then there's the character assassination. Rogue went from a mutant in training to a petulant school child pining over Iceman. Bobby (Iceman) showed none of the potential for growth coming from X2. Juggernaut wasn't a character he was a device to create a catch phrase. Angel we had glimpses of turning into a compelling character, but he was left in the cold at the end. Beast was thoroughly boring. Storm turned into a wimp. It became the Wolverine show.
I despise Wolverine. Always have and always will.
Jason, I'm the Juggernaut bitch!

Not really. While I think the X-Men movies are fun, mindless entertainment, I'm not really in love with any of them. They all rate around 6/10 in my book and certainly work well for TBS and TNT to wear out for the next 10-years. For me I don't see a huge difference from #3 compared to the others. It was the third installment and it was obvious it would be a film to bring closure, and also a subtle hint to rekindle any future movies.
I can understand that if you're a follower of the whole X-Men genre, and have been a fan of the comics, that X-3 just didn't cut it. IMO, all I have to go on are the movies, and from what I've seen, they are all silly, cornball entertaining films. I really don't think one film is any better than the next. Each one of them has had their fun and fall-flat moments. As I said, not in love with them but much more fun than some of the crappy standby on cable.
Tim - Not an X-Men fan, but have no problem with those that are.

The only X-Men comics I've EVER read were the first one (packed with the CE of X3) and the Star Trek crossovers. So it's not a case of me being a fanboy.
Jason, Trek fanboy...yes
