So what does "live out of the box" mean? Does one still need an internet connection, or is there a wireless connection built in? Can you tell from the press release?

BD Live....big deal... if I didn't already own a Blu Ray player I would buy the BDP-1400 and save the $200.

It's apparent that after two years, that Blu-Ray still isn't doing anything about BD Live. kinda sad actually.

Your laughing ReaggieP but in fact it's the truth. I say they should just scrap the whole damn thing.

Actually, more and more studios are beginning to add BD-Live features to their discs. Almost all new Sony Blu-ray discs contain some kind of BD-Live features, as do discs from Paramount, Disney, Lionsgate, and others. Only Warners Bros. are being a little slow.

Yes, Jim, you need an Internet connection of some kind. The studios figure that BD-Live will be yet another little treat to entice people into buying a high-definition player. Right now, high-def is a tough sell: high cost of HD TVs, high cost of HD players, high cost of HD discs. Every little bit helps to get a foot in the door.

Big deal Samsung to make a BD - Live player. Samsung doesn't make good BD players. Anyone thinking of buying any BD player (especially at this price) other than a PS3 needs to think again.

I'm pretty sure that only less than 10% of the people with a BD-Live title will use that feature, at least once...I mean, there are two reasons why the feature could not be in the disc either because they didn't bother to put it there in the first place, or because it actually needs daily data to work (like Disney's castle sun clock or something like that)...

Tony, John is right every studio is producing BD Live content except WB who only has a few titles. This is the studio chance to get into customers homes, and have direct contact with the customer. It open more possibitlies for the consumer as well as the studios. I see nothing wrong with that. BD Live may also help with fraudulent copies of disks being made as well. Damn did I say that

internet features just make it very distracting to watch a movie. besides, all those pop-up bubbles with information are never as comprehensive as text printed in one piece available all over the internet.
