Joe, man, please stop with the Kool-Aid. McCain has a sense of humor because of the bombing song, but it's okay to lynch-yes, I said lynch-Obama for saying lipstick on a pig. So the same rules don't apply to both sides now??

Go farther back in history and you'll see the Democratic party supported slavery. Sure, things have changed since the 1800's, but I'm just saying . . .
Remember kids, I'm an Independent, so I'm just making an observation. Now if I can just figure out if I ever got Palin drunk enough to . . . well, you know.

View profile »hey, don't forget that trent lott (republican senator and chode), not too long ago, said that our country would've been better off electing a man who ran on a platform of segregationism as president.

LOL, yeah it does kind of sound like a George Bush word, but it means to separate people by race into their own communities. Not that we're not close to this already just by the choices we all make in where we live. I don't know if any of you are familiar with Atlanta, but in their historical museum, there is an entire section dedicated to slavery and segregation. I remember reading one of the display plaques and it talked about how segregation was a huge issue after the abolishment of slavery. I remember thinking to myself, "what's changed"? I mean, if you've ever been to downtown Atlanta, and if you're any other race than African American, you are certainly in the minority. Go to any of the suburbs outside Atlanta and it's white mans paradise.

It doesn't matter how much you love this country, or how long you've lived here. It doesn't matter if you work, if you go to school, or you abuse welfare. It doesn't matter whether you've done community service or if you don't even open the door of stores for others. It doesn't matter whether your lunch is in McDonald's or your house. It doesn't matter whether if the love of your life is a man or a woman. It doesn't matter if you are a mature 15 year old or a childish 40 year old. It doesn't matter if you wear a pin flag or patriotic colors. It doesn't really matter if you are red or blue. It doesn't really matter if you live in Texas or Ohio. It doesn't even matter if you are black or white. It doesn't matter if you are smart or not. It doesn't matter if you speak English or Spanish. It doesn't matter if you like HD or SD. It doesn't matter if you buy widescreen or 'foolscren'. It doesn't matter.
Here's the plot twist, a la "I am your father"...Jason, fellow message board poster, I CANNOT VOTE, I am NOT a US Citizen yet...
For as much as I've done in this country, being a good citizen, being a good student, being a good worker, being a responsible human being...I still have not seen candidates 'market' their issues. I refuse to go to a website and look at those issues, it is NOT what WE voters should do.
I still have to see an informative campaign were candidates actually have ads about what they plan to do. I think that most voters would actually want to know what the president will do to avoid foreclosure of their homes, to see how he plans to keep his job here, how he plants to finish the Iraq and Afghanistan occupation, to see how he plans to make things so that he can afford to buy that new HDTV or that car, or college for his kids.
NOTHING. And TV makes it worse, with all these smoke they create to try to blind people into real issues, not the real issues, but real issues. What is it going to help Obama if he has never been middle class? What about McCain? What's the negative effect that not having a son in the military affect Obama? Why with a teenage pregnant daughter is Palin still supporting abstinence in school? What has Biden actually done? How have these two candidates actually agreed on, that has made America great?
I don't see any of the above covered by the media, sadly. We're still debating on the 'abuse of power' of Palin, or Obama's senate record, or McCain's old age (which doesn't really matter, but you have made it look like something bad, the same way I've done with Obama's biracialism (another Bushism))...for what good?
It is scary that people will vote for Obama because he speaks nice, or for Palin because she is a woman, rather than Obama for trying to bring 'new ideas' or Palin for trying to bring a tough hand on politics.
I know that after my plot twist, I will not be taken as seriously (not that I've ever been

It's the same crap every four years! We have issues to solve, but the candidates pander us with weak words of promise with very little details to go on. And once elected, it's business as usual. Plus, for the entire election year, the media puts as much spin and hype over crap that is better left to 12-year olds on a school playground! And here's the line that always kills me, "if you want change, then vote!" Yeah, like voting will ever get the media to actually inform us in details of the real issues.
