Microsoft's recent move to reduce Xbox 360 prices across the board may turn out to be especially significant for the console wars.

Sony has stressed several times that they've no plans to reduce PS3 prices this year, and Pachter doesn't expect to see a reduction until early next year. "I think Sony is going to roll the dice on its game lineup... and hope that HDTV sales drive more PS3-as-Blu-ray-player sales," he says.

. . .

"with the built-in Blu-ray player the broadest and deepest software lineup in the industry"

maybe they mean playstation 2 titles with bc? ps2 > ps3 Or maybe they mean "not right now, but wait until, soon, potential, 10 year plan. . ." ) Sony's universal answer to everything.

I said this last year when were in knee deep over the HD DVD/Blu Ray war, but I still cannot beleive that they are still making the PS2. That's why they will not reduce the PS3, the more they reduce it, the closer it will be compared in price with the PS2.

Yeah I agree with invisiblebiker, unless they cease to support PS2, you will not see a price drop near future. On top of that for the price you are paying for game/blu-ray combo, you can't ask more.

This machine is a bargain at it's current price. Too bad our economy sucks.
