Keyboard player, Richard Wright, of Pink Floyd dies today at age 65.

Certainly one of my favorite bands over many decades. Much of their work through the 70's is still as fresh as the time it was released. Some of Richard's more memorable tracks can be found on Dark Side of the Moon, "Us and Them" and "Great Gig in the Sky".

RIP Richard. You were a great contribution to one of the best bands of all time.

Thanks Tim for the update - just heard a brief tidbit this morning.

His contributions on Pink Floyd material is excellent and balanced. Anyone here should rent or purchase the live PULSE concert DVD - one of the best!

Very sad...

he died yesterday.

Also, many don't realize it, but Alan Parsons contributed greatly to the Dark Side of The Moon album and his unique "sound" is heard throughout it.

Yikes! That's what I thought too before I read the story. Of course, all those guys are getting up there in age, so I guess I can't see it coming as a surprise. What's sad is Waters & Gilmore were starting to get along again and there was hope for a band reunion. It could still happen, but now it won't be the original four. It's kind of like when Page & Plant do a Zeppelin reunion -- without John Bonham it's just not the same.

Hey bladerunner... NOPE, the Pulse program as not been released on Blu-ray. As you may know, it was not shot on film, but videotape, and would improve little on Blu-ray (image wise), but the audio could be re-processed in "HD" quality codecs. I own both the 2-disc Pulse LaserDisc set, and 2-disc Pulse DVD set. And it's on CD too of course.

About a year ago, I took advantage of an Amazon 1-day discount sale for the "Live8" multi-disc box set ($24), which featured a great reunion performance by all of the original members of the band - the only time in such a long time that Roger Waters had played with the other members. Excellent performance, and it seemed like they hadn't been 'apart' for all of those years (musically).

Roger toured in the past year with his own "Dark Side of the Moon" set performed live. I'm hoping that he will release a DVD (or Blu-ray) of the set (like the Gilmour-led Pulse show did too for "Dark Side").

And David Gilmour has several great DVDs (and one Blu-ray), with another live set being released soon... "Live In Gdansk (2 CD/2 DVD)" - Catch the 2-CD full live concert David played at the Gdansk, Poland shipyards. Includes Pink Floyd favorites "Shine on You Crazy Diamond" and "Breathe." Also featured on the first bonus DVD highlights from the concert as well as a documentary on Poland's Solidarity Movement. The second DVD contains 11 bonus tracks (previously unreleased) including Barn Jams sessions and a 5.1 Surround Sound mix from On An Island.

yeah. i remember when "pulse" was first released. it had that really cool red light on the packaging. i had the vhs and the cassette forever. i would still love for this band to resolve their differences and tour. infact, i'm just going to go ahead and say that we havent seen this band tour in what..like almost 30 years?

i hate this stuff, like tim brought up earlier..zep. they wasted so many years (even though bonham passed..would he have wanted THAT band to fold?) and i feel that the floyd has done the exact same thing. as great as gilmore is, and pulse, it's still just a solo effort. right? you cannot have the beatles without john, paul, george. the ring is replaceable. you cannot have kiss without ace and peter...why do these bands get so "cocksure" of themselves?

jimi, jim, janis..the 3 j's, all passed away at the tender age of 27. cobain also passed at that age. you would think that these guys(the ones still kicking) would realize that they are not going to be here forever, and want to make the best music possible while alive!

It's all about those musician's egos Blade. Look no further than the Eagles. Those old timers admit the reason they did no studio record in over 25-years is because of their big egos. And it's a problem with most bands throughout musical history -- everyone in the band wants to be the star. Fortunately for Eagles fans worldwide, the ol' boys were able to put their differences aside and released a double CD in 2007, which was a pretty good effort on their part. I won't say I love it as much as Hotel California, but for not putting something together in 25-years, it's a pretty damn good CD. Nevertheless, it would be nice to see more musician's give their egos a rest and just do it for the fans, and no, I don't think that's asking too much. Hell, Van Halen took David Lee Roth back, therefore anything is possible.

$$$$$$$$$$^^^$$$$$$$$$$

yaknow tim..i think these guys just "came down" if ya know what i mean. they sobered up and all started having panic attacks after they realized that they werent as good as they were when they were hitting the hash pipe. sad but very true fact, drugs belong in rockn'roll.

but you already knew this.
