So what movie surprises people the most when you tell them you've never seen it?
For me it's Titanic, I have never seen this movie, I've seen the scene where Jack dies and about a minute of the ship sinking. People look at me funny when I tell them I've never seen this movie and I think James Cameron's true Opus was earlier with T2.

View profile »And I find myself attending fewer movies on the big screen, as the Blu-ray (or DVD) rental is so convenient. Watching in your own home allows much more control than a theater, as you can set the A/C to your own liking, the audio volume, and you can pause for an interrupted phone call, bathroom break, and snack break if needed. And of course, you can stop and replay any scene for more clarification, or for personal enjoyment (I back up and replay scenes often during action movies, such as James Bond etc).

I'm in my early 30's, so, black and white movies for me have always been hard to get into, or get into the mood to watch. I did watch re-runs of "The Andy Griffith Show", "I Love Lucy", "The Outer Limits", and "The Twilight Zone" TV shows as a kid, however. So, it's not completely beyond me.
I found, through my teacher in my film class, that it's easier to get into the mood to watch old movies like "Gone With The Wind" (or ANY movie, really) if you can watch it with a few friends. Think of it like this: Would you sit down to watch "Monty Python's Holy Grail" all by yourself? No, probably not. If you did, it would just be an endless rabble of semi-funny skits from a bygone era that would bore you to tears if you were the only one sitting there. Add 5 of your closest friends, however, and the lot of you will have aching stomachs and tears streaming down your face, you'll be laughing so hard!
So, if you can convince a few of your friends to come over for a "film appreciation night", or, ask your wife to sit down with you and watch "Gone With The Wind", "The Maltise Falcon", "Rear Window", or any of the Hitchcock films, it's much easier to sit through, AND appreciate.
