Steve, what will be even more interesting is what happens after the holiday season and people are trying to pay off their credit card bills and all the other expenses from the holidays.

Thats whats really going to impact the economy because people may not start spending again for a while longer than is normal.

All I know is that this Christmas won't be blu for me. Nobody I know dares get me any discs for holidays because I get what I want when I see it for a good price, hence the 92 BD's on the shelf...and a vast majority I haven't even watched yet...

R-u-serious, let us know what u think about the Godfather Trilogy and the new Coppola restoration.

Yesterday morning on Breakfast Television (a morning TV show here in Toronto) they were giving away the Coppola Restoration DVD's on the street. I was so mad cause I wouldn't have made it there on time (maybe 15 mins). The kicker was people were refusing them because they thought there was some catch to it but there wasn't. :p

I think most of us have that problem...between work, sleep, gym, driving, and DVDTown , nobody has time to watch that many discs...

As for free Godfather DVDs??? Come on!

Seriously, I buy stuff, unwrap it, stick it on the shelf...watch it three years later. I'm at 486 right now. I've probably seen right around half, if not a little less than that. If I ever manage to clean up the shelves, I'll throw some pics up...

Jason, horrible

now just imagine if HD-DVD survived.... we wouldn't be pining over how expensive this stuff is....

shoot, i wonder if the folks at the BDA were thinking blu-ray would survive on high prices and why... it obviously isn't!!! it's rather unfair to the consumer who has been wanting to have some major usage out of his HDTV, and the players are going to cost around a fraction that he paid for it in the first place.

Yeah, I saw that too...was tempted to drive downtown and pick up a copy myself to give away for Christmas but then I'd be late for work, as I live by Pearson.

I love the movie and the new transfer, although not perfect, is a damned sight better than SD-DVD release of a couple of years ago. The 5.1 audio steers much better as well. There are a couple of scenes where the picture brightness blooms in order to increase the visibility previously hidden details.

I have been coveting this collection since I first read about it...even had it on order for months in England for the HD-DVD release that seemed to disappear without warning...

What? HD-DVD movies were just as if not slightly more expensive than their Blu ray counter parts.
