....So, I'm looking on the Panasonic website to see which of their players had BD-Live support. Anyway, I see firmware updates for each of their models. The thing that scares me is they tell you exactly what each firmware update fixes. Mostly compatibility with certain movies not upgrades to the overall software running the machine. So my question is "How long will updates be needed, will it be every month for new discs that don't play right?" If this keeps up all the BD machines will become outdated as I cannot imagine manufacturers including monthly updates when BD gets into full swing and sells tons of BDs per month compared to just a few releases each month now. Does anyone see what I'm saying?

Oh, and this wouldn't have worried me if it had been a couple movies that had problems. It was quite a list.

In other words you're thinking the size of some of these updates will eventually be bigger than the players can accept or store in memory?

Yeah that could be a problem I guess but I'm sure they thought of this already.

instead of posting the "master of the obvious" and "blu-ray red screen of death" pictures again, lemme just recommend that you get a funai clone.

that is just so lame eddie...i prefer the pics.

lemme just recommend that you get a PS3...because you can also play games on it, and playing games through a full blown home theater system, with big screenage...is simply INCREDIBLE! (much funner than watching BR movies...IMO...)

also!
I can 100 percent say with the uptmost confidence that this is one BR player that will NEVER be obsolete. (in this generation ofcoarse) This machine IS Blu-ray.

Falcon, I hadn't even thought of that but that is a good point. I just meant that manufacturers don't put updates out very much so I cannot see them putting out monthly updates to cover all the possible BD releases that have problems.

No, you're right wolvinator. I have been saying this for months. I noticed issues with not only disks but format set back on my HTPC months before I bought the magnavox. Certain posters on this message board were in complete denial, saying it was the HD DVD fanboy talking. Hey, you're not the only one.

That's reminds me, anyone have trouble with "You Don't Mess with the Zohan"? Last night there is a glitch on the multi-angle portion of the disk. And I noticed it on the maggy and the PC. It would show the icon, not allow me to access the multi angle support, then replay clips or parts of the scene depending on how many angle options were given! It was annoying as hell. It happened three times in the movie. My wife was pissed! So, when you look at it. Guess who made that movie? Columbia/Tristar which we all know is a Sony Pictures Company! How Ironic...

Each update that you download is replaced by the newest one so you do not retain the old update. As far as consuming all of the available storage for an update, I really don't see that happening.

Yes Tony, the new update replaces the old but each update has more information than the last.
