Time to start thinking about Christmas gifts. For other people. So, in the past few years my dad has done alot for myself and my family. I want to get him a nice HDTV. I have a couple in mind. A Sharp and a Vizio.

The Sharp is a nice one from the Aquos line.

And the Vizio is a good looking (for Vizio) model.

I have heard REALLY good things about the Aquos line of TV's. And Vizio has really stepped their game up in the past year or two with the quality of their TV's. Both TV's come in at the same price with sales figured in and everything. Also i'd like top pick up a low-cost BD player for him as well. Are there any "Get 7 movies with this player" sales left going on now that the format war is over?

I've had a Vizio since Last Christmas. The thing is bloody amazing. It's a 37" LCD set. 1080i. It's perfect for my needs.

Who is Visio made by? They must be buying their panels from Samsung or Panasonic. Are they decent. The only place I have seen them in Canada is Costco, so I'm a bit leary. But would not rule them out though.

Here is a link to a short article about Vizio and their manufacturing. It doesn't say anything specific, but it's made clear that they don't make their own parts.

With the economy tanking, this holday season might be one ofthe worst we've seen in retail sales. Some reatil chains are already holding back from hiring any extra help this season since they predict the sales won't be there. It's all doom and gloom if you ask me. The world is coming to and end!

Nevertheless, I was watching the History Channel last night and they were showing a program about the Bible Code. This code predicted things like WWII, Hitler, JFK assisination, the Twin Towers and the Wall Street Crash of 1929. However, there's no prediction of an economic crisis for the year 2008 (There is a prediction for atomic war in 2010 and we get hammered by a comet in 2012). So, I say go out and spend! If the world truly is coming to an end, I say max out those credit cards, live beyond your means and don't worry about the kids college funds because they won't need'em!

The Bible Code... Don't get me started... (To late!) Tim, when you were watching 'A Beautiful Mind', when Ed Harris told Russell Crow that he needed to decode the secret messages in newspapers and magazines did you make any connection there with the Bible Code? Because I sure did. I see The Bible Code as exactly the same thing as what went on in that movie. When someone looks SO hard for something that they want to find SO badly they will find it if it's there or not.

Kind of like when all those Christian radicals found Satan and drugs when you played Zeppelin or Beatles records backwards, huh?
