Well I have to admit, there is some computer geeks that like to surf this site as well. I just picked up the new LG(soon to be old) GGW-H20L Blu-Ray DL/DVD DL Writer - BD/HD DVD/DVD/CD Reader. This drive is compatable with every format that I can think of. Including DVD-RAM How funny is that. Anyways, my previous Blu-ray burner was only 1x just for a BD-R and it was trying to say the least. This New LG peice burns at 4X DL! That's 6X for a SL. That's about 14 minutes a layer, for 50 gigs that is. total time about 28 to 32mins. A +DL DVD burns in about 17mins! A far cry from the 45 mins I used to wait. The software licks for burning the stuff I want to burn. NERO is my best friend! If want to creat eyour own stuff, it works I guess. I does come with a full version of Power DVD Ultra HD. Albeit, a version of 7.3... not 8.0 but still free, well I had to buy the drive and it came with it. What does suck is that I already have 8.0 and it won't let me override the driver until I delete 8.0. But now I can't install 8.0 overtop of it, unless I buy the new licence. Tim, I'm going to need your expertise here. I cannot uninstall the 7.3 version unless I take the whole suite off. That's what I might have to do... Not a biggie for me, I'm going to be using it just to burn stuff like ******.

Oh yeah if your interested where I got it Futureshop had a great sale on it last week for $219.99! That's over $85 off retail here in the frigid north. I knew there was a reason I left Canada...

Ok, that all sounds a little odd. Drivers are usually free since the manufacutrer, in this case LG, has to support their equipment. However, the software you use for ripping and buring may cost a small chunck of cash -- usually an average of $50 to $100 depending on the quality. So, when you are talking about the 7.3 and 8.0 are you talking about the actuall software or only the driver? Plus, are you able to download the software and/or drivers from LG?
