I ordered both sets from an online source because the three-packs were cheaper than buying the discs individually. One of them arrived with a damaged disc. While it's rare for a Blu-ray to arrive dislodged from its holder because of the design, these pages in a leather-bound book-style holder only have those nubs of foam that hold the discs at the center hole, and with nothing pressed securely on top of them they're more prone to become dislodged. I don't know why the decision was made to go this route, but it wouldn't surprise me if they didn't just package future sets in the same Blu cases as the single discs. Frankly, I wish they had in this case.

I've only bought two Blu Ray discs thus far but I do know what you mean. They come with a very clean surface. That new coating TDK came up with is great. When I bought HD DVDs I could many times expect to see some dirt or mild scratches(they didn't affect playback). My planet earth series was pathetic how beat up the discs looked when they came to me. I had to return several sets.

I still like how the menus and loading of the HD DVDs work better.
