Well, it's all a matter of opinion. I certainly don't agree with the list, mainly because it's so "classic rock" oriented. There have been plenty of rock albums through every decade I'd say were greats, but these lists always seem to be made by a bunch of old, retired hippies that scoff at anything after 1975. I mean really, the list IS opinion based no matter how you look at it. If it were me, Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan would have never made my list because I never cared for either. Somewhere in there I would have placed Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall, but again, it's all a matter of opinion.

yeah, what a terrible list...rock 'n' roll isn't the only style of music in existence.

Zeppelin and Hendrix are the only ones I like in that list. The Stones are ok but not top 10 worthy IMO. The rest is a bunch of hippy crap that I don't care about.

Whoever made the list was pretty classic rock biased. He could have atleast included ACDC,Pink Floyd,Aerosmith and Van Halen. Thats if he wanted some of the best of classic rock.

I like so many decades of music. I prefer mostly 90s and some of todays alternative.

In fairness to "Sound & Vision," they also did a top-ten classical list and bunch of other top-ten music lists in the same issue. (Agreeing with the lists is another story.)

Also, they justified their lists by saying they weren't based solely on popularity but on the influence of the albums on the music field.

Well, that's kind of my point in that I would include certain albums from other decades that were an influence to the music filed. For example, an album like "Dark Side of the Moon" mesmerized people for decades and has been the longest selling album in 25-years on the billboard. Take" Van Halen 1" in 1979, there was literally nothing that had that sound. Eddie Van Halen alone changed the face of guitar players’ world wide and really paved the way for the hair-metal, guitar player. "Led Zeppelin 1" did the same thing back in 1968 and introduced a style and sound that nobody at the time possesed. So, to me that's a lot of influence to the music field. I just find the above list . . . predictable.

Tim,

"Sound & Vision" did include "Dark Side," just not in their top ten. Their list actually includes their opinons of the top 100 most influential pop albums of all time.

Dark Side of the Moon should be in the top 5.
