It's a Samsung! It has known issues, of not working. My Funai clone works great! So far no red screens, no errors booting, no failed to read disk or content, and so far it loves all of the problematic blu-rays that Sony's and Samsungs can't play.

Yay!!! I'm part of a club!! Like I said earlier, don't let the names fool ya, these players are legit and can perform. I would recommend this player for those who have not made the jump to blu yet. They are also very affordable too! Hell, hit up amazon and get one for $99 with the warner movie deal!

Yay!!! I'm not!! Eddie if you would please provide a link to a review of these clones, that would be great. I have yet to hear any professional reviewers rave about these as you do. Infact i'm reading that with cheaper prices comes cheaper product. I just feel that if you are going to promote this product, and bash another in the process..you should post some "unbiased" information backing your claim. I could easily do this with the PS3 and the Samsung BD-50.

Welcome! But do NOT drink the Kool-Aid. Ever hear of Jim Jones? When did Dvdtown become a cult? What are we to sacrifice tonight?

bladerunner,

as others here can attest, the funai clones are rather hefty, so it does not suffer from vibrations like slimmer and lighter machines.

also, funai is the third-party manufacturer that makes outsourced electronics for companies like denon (a "high-end" company). if a company like denon trusts funai, then funai is good.

Bladerunner, I'm just attesting to my experience with these players. If you're curious about these machines I suggest you try one out. You have a few people here saying it's a good player. You don't always need some professonal geek to tell you that something is good or not. Also, I get what you are saying when you say cheaper price, cheaper product. That may hold true to some things but not these players. Funai makes parts for many electronic companies so that should say something right there. But I guess if you buy a lexus you're gettin an inferior car then a benz because you're not paying over 100g's on a car. oh well i guess that's why lexus leads the luxury car market. just something to think about.

Just looking for a little more intell. from people that don't hate Sony. I have always said on here that I could care less about a name. However, sometimes price points DO scare me..in both directions. I was chattin with Tim about this on another thread the other night, about his Insignia reciever. In that thread, I agreed that price/name doesnt always make a better product. But, before I purchase such product, i would like to hear a little more about it from various sources, not just people who may despise Sony (or any other company). All i was asking for was a link. I was NOT calling you fine gentlemen liars. I already have my player, and am very happy with it. If you are happy with these, then like I told Tim about his reciever..i'm good.

I guess I just don't want people that may not post here, but still read these posts to be mislead in anyway, shape or form, when it comes to this very important subject of trying to keep Blu-Ray alive and kicking for awhile. A link comparing these to other players in ANY price point would be great.

Bladerunner,
It's all good, I understand where you are coming from. I know there may be some people who may or may not like a company, but when it comes down to it, it's all about software. So whatever format anyone chooses it's all good cuz they may like the software that is being produced for it. I for one want the best so I try to get the best that's out, unless it is not necessary. For example, Iron Man, I have to get that movie on hi-def for the visuals and sounds. And Interview with the Vampire, I don't mind having the SD version because I don't think it would make a difference for me in Hi-def. As for blu-ray being alive, it will be live and kicking for a long time.
