I'm happy to see there are finally affordable Blu players for consumers to get into, I just hope it doesn't bring back Disco.

As was reported by Falcon, the Insignia Funai Clone will be $99 at Canadian Best Buys on Boxing Day (26 December). Hopefully, this unit will be marked down at American Best Buys, too. This is an excellent value, especially for those of you who've been waiting for a unit with an optical audio out connection (and not just coax).

Hillarious. I can see Onkyo doing that too. A friend of mine is a Onkyo rep, and they have always bastardized Sony, and Pioneer. If Toshiba starts their own Blu-Ray disc player, look for Onkyo to join them again.

Did you see the "Funai TV and Blu Ray" banners on the Red Sox spring training ad wall? I wonder if they are going to start selling under their own brand name.

The cheap Denon is also a Funai clone.

(At the very least Denon tried to hide the fact with a different-layout remote control. Onkyo flat out copied the Funai clone without trying anything new.)

While it might be tempting to poke gentle fun at anyone who owns the Onkyo- or Denon-branded clones, let's just welcome all Cloners. After all, the more the merrier.
