Hey Hendrix, all the information I am getting from the BF sites, is that the lowest priced Blu Ray player will be the first generation SONY player. K Mart has it priced at 179.99 on Thanksgiving Day. I am sure SEARS will offer it also since they are owned by K Mart. I bought the Sylvania with 4 movies through Amazon for 176.00 and it does not look like you will find a better price.

BEST BUY has a list of 16.99 Blu Ray movies for BF as well as SAMS Club. There are no combo deals being listed at this time on any of the BF adds.

Thanks for the update IB.

Yeah, that -is- a very nice sale that you (and Eddie on page 1) mentioned - previously noted Oct 27 (<click for info). A great deal, and a person could re-sell the movies on Amazon, eBay, etc so as to received an overall lower player-purchase price (after discount). I'm thinking about a possible Funai clone purchase for a relative too (like Tony did, and others), and around $150 would be nice... perhaps on Black Friday (who knows huh?). I wish there were a larger selection of movies on the Amazon offer, but oh well.

Still, for my next main BD player, I'm interested in one of the new Panasonic models, and looking forward to early January's annual Consumer Electronics Show for the latest 2009 models. Oppo Digital is rumored to be near an announcement of their forthcoming BD player, and with the competition and economic environment, I'm thinking it will have a nice price too.

That did it Eddie!!!!

Only $128! Awesome! (Maganovox//Funai clone)

Looks like I'll have to finally be one of those "early risers" to Wal-mart. But Eddie, -YOU- already know me real well now, how I'll actually just stay up from the night before (LOL), and then go down and get one. I'm going to find out how many my local stores will have on hand - I've got two close Wal-marts, and two others within 15 minutes.

Thanks for the update Eddie! That's a great price, and all I need from it is HDMI output (along with the BD playback of course), so as soon as I make the purchase, I'll let you know here so my name can be added to the Funai club. I hope they don't sell out.

Tim might be interested too. Oh happy day... oh happy day (LOL)

Oh yeah... Toshiba makes some of the very best Window-based laptops.

I re-read that Money magazine story... only $798 for a 50" Samsung plasma(!), $398 for a PC, $25 for a microwave. Wow - some great deals. And only $128 for a BD player... this less than a year after Blu-ray becoming the main HD-disc standard. While there, I'll see what prices Wal-mart has on BD discs as well. It's going to be intense that day, even with the current economic situation. Wal-mart is still experiencing decent to strong sales, which will only magnify on BF weekend.

(just pray that toshiba isn't using exploding batteries from sony any more, lol.)
