It's ironic Eddie... if I'm successful in buying one of these during the early BF morning sale, this will be TWICE that you've been instrumental in my purchase! Earlier this year, in March, Eddie was the first to mention in a thread about the the awesome Amazon/Tiger Direct "liquidation" sale of the Toshiba HD-35 HD-DVD players (just $170 brand new), and I immediately made a purchase before they sold out (within hours). It's my main HD-DVD/DVD player (my older Toshiba A1 HD-DVD is now a backup).

And so, here's hoping they don't sell out of the Magnavox that morning...

EDIT - spelling errors(!)

best buy is selling two toshibas at discounted prices. i think the cheaper of the two is $379 or $399. you have to get there early to get a "doorbuster" voucher. stores open at 5 am.

More irony Eddie... I already have a Sony "Financial Services" card(!), but have never used it.

What happened, was several years ago I was in Fry's Electronics, and they encouraged me to sign up for their card, and that Sony card. So I did right there in the store. I've used the Fry's card a few times, but not the Sony (LOL). And I really don't care about the "Five Free BDs" (especially the meager selection) - I'm just interested in a low-priced BD player like that Maganovox.

I'm near Phoenix, but not actually in Phoenix. I live about 45 miles from central downtown, but when you live here in a big city, 45-miles is like a drive to circle-K, it's no big deal. Back where I grew up in Portland, 45-miles would have been something you need to plan out for sometime in the week. Driving over 30-miles was like a giant, planed event. Living in a big city, long miles are such a commen place that you easily take it for granted. Anybody else in this dilema?

What's with all this "Laptop" talk . . . purchase . . . thingy? If you're looking for a notebook/laptop, then actually spend the extra cash and get something decent and not something from your local Best Buy that you'll have to upgrade in less than two years. Don't even bother with Dell (Snail) compters, the Dells we use at work are sluggish, pieces of crap! You want a fast, well built machine than go with "Alienware". They have a laptop at $2000 that smokes ass! You don't even need to add anything extra because what you get out of the box is far more kick-ass than anything you can find at any retail electronics. Trust me, I know good computers because I work in graphics, and us graphic nerds have to have the best shit built because it's mandatory. And $2000 for and Alienware laptop is a freaking steal considering how much gaming/multimedia laptops really cost. I know I'm probably going to pick up one after my tax return this year and I highly recommend that when you look into laptops, Alienware is the way to go.

My Dell is a work laptop, that gets used a lot. The wifi is finally giving up after two years of consecutive use. I would never buy a Dell for personal use. Junk, enough said. I will give this peice credit, it does have the 15.4 inch widescreen for movies, and does have a DVD/DVD+-R burner on board. It also has Win XP prof as well. Dell still is one of the only company that will still sell you XP if you want it. It's really hard to hate a company so bad. I'm at the point in which I'm using my EVDO for wireless in the house, because the wifi doesn't always work. So, I think I'll have to grab a PCMIA wireless card from work on monday.
