Might be the time to act in a few more weeks if you are thinking about getting a hdtv in the near future.

You can haggle most places down even now. I got a 50" Samsung 1080p Plasma with 1,000,000:1 contrast (PN50A650) today. The reg price is $2,199 CDN, listed on sale for $1,999 and I haggled it down to $1,699. That's $500 off the sticker!

I saw a 42" plasma from LG I think (?) on sale a couple of weeks ago for either $899 or $999. Im assuming there will be some great sales on Boxing Day.

I've never seen a 1080p Plasma for that low but there are some of the older lower-rez ones (720p or 1024x768) for that price. They are probably selling them off at a loss to clear them out since the new ones seem to all be 1080p.

Tweeter has a 50" plasma 1080p Panasonic "Special Buy" advertised for $999 in the Boston area insert last Sunday. The price absolutely blew me away. I don't know the model and unfortunately I tossed the ad. I can't find it online, but I think this info is accurate.

Saw the following linked from EngadgetHD's website...

Early look at SEARS Black Friday Sale Prices - note the $180 Sony 1.1 BD player (from this summer, 2.0 capable with firmware update). Also, further down the list are lower prices on HDTVs.

A Local place here had the Panasonic 50" 800 series plasma for $1799 (Reg $2499). They also had the 42" 800 series for $1500 (Reg $1999). Which is really decent here in Canada.

Fox Financial Network just ran a spot "Blu Ray players see a major price drop" and "$400 players to drop to $150." We shall see...
