joe,

1) credit cards are actually owned by the financial institution backing the card, NOT the "brand". as such, the card is actually serviced by chase, NOT sony.

2) one does not have to use the card to get the movies.

Yeah I know Eddie... it's just for once I like to give -you- a hard time (usually it's the other way around).

I'm actually thrilled with your embrace of Blu-ray (since earlier this spring/summer), and so you can keep on letting everyone know of the great deals you hear about.

I'm thinking that with Black Friday a month from now, we'll see some awesome buying opportunities (software and hardware).

-JOE- (Love Hendrix!)

Tony, I don't know how serious you were when you said that (maybe you were just kidding), but I'd say if the clones lose, then BD loses. There is only so far the PS3 can take Blu-ray, with, I suspect, many adults resistant to the idea of having to own a game machine to play movies.

Yeah..but if the PS3 penetrates like the PS2... (who knows). Did the PS2 help sell standalones? Is their a thread in the "vault" on here with that topic

I also about crapped myself when I opened this thread, and then I saw eddies true intentions.

"Cut the card..take the discs and run." (brilliant, eddie..predictible. but brilliant.)

in fact, you can get the movies before you even activate the card.

I understand that. Still, giving easy credit to people who can not use it correctly with the incentive of 5 free movies is stupid.

Sony still licks baggage. Enough said.

Wouldn't apply for a card otherwise. You guys are aware that applying for another credit card goes against your credit score? Thought I'd give you the heads up on that one. More credit doesn't help you, it goes against you. If you were to have one credit card, and to pay it off every month or second month,IE the purchases made from 60 days ago are paid that builds your credit. Simply applying and never using doesn't help.

Sorry to be the bummer, but its yous credit score!

Agreed Jason 100%!

Yeah, like I need ANOTHER Chase credit card to go along with my other three (all of which have zero balances). I have not used a credit card in 10 months and I ain't gonna start now. They can keep their five "free" BDs.

Further proof that people will complain even for something that is free.

Thank you Reaggie. Between you, me and Wolfen agreeing this week, this is scary!

Nothing in life is free. Nothing. Most people will sign up for this card to get the free movies. Not a whole lot of problem there...IF they don't use the card. However, we're a consumer society and having one more credit card in our pocket gives us the incentive to spend money we DO NOT have. Some people can have that card and not use it. The majority can NOT. Credit is entirely too easy to get for far too many people, leading to bad decisions, sky-high interest rates and buying too much shit we do not need.

Hey, how about this: live within the means of your paycheck and don't BORROW money from someone else? I'm sorry if you can't understand that.
