I bought Twilight Zone: The Movie on HD DVD. I fired up the A-35 and turned down the lights and turned up the sound on the 5.1 surround sound system. The last time I had seen that movie was probably when I was 11 or 12 years old. I remember that movie being one of my favorites from back in the day. But when I watched it last week or the week before (I don't really care to remember anymore) it just didn't do it for me anymore. It felt like I was watching that old series Amazing Stories instead of Twilight Zone. My favorite old Twilight episodes were much more sinister than the ones remade for the movie. Kick The Can? What the hell? I didn't even remember that one. The only one that did anything was the "Something is on the plane!" one with John Lithgow. And that's because John Lithgow is awesome! But anyway, my point of this post is what movies do you guys remember being really good when you were a kid, but when you watched them again recently were just totally underwhelmed?

Independence Day. I remember after seeing this my buddies and I quoted it for months especially Bill Pullman's speech. Everytime I catch it on TV now I just laugh at how much it rips off better movies.

Scarface. I loved it when it came out and would have given it a 10 for today’s standards. Now the movie just seems too dated! The music is atrocious, it’s over-acted and far too long for its own good. It’s still ok to watch once in a great while, but I don’t think it’s near as good as I once thought.

Highlander is another. I was all WOW over that movie when I was a youngster, but it has surly weakened through the test of time. The effects are so outdated they’re literally painful to watch. The acting is no treat, either. Even Sean Connery could have done better, but he was nowhere near as bad as the rest of the cast. However, I still enjoy the overall story and wouldn’t mind seeing Highlander get a remake with all the updated bells & whistles.

Great thread, spoonard!

1) Any of the Star Wars from the '70s (of course the new ones blow, too).

2) The Twilight Zone - agreed.

3) The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury - I loved this mini-series. I recently rented it on Netflix...BAD IDEA!

4) The Last Starfighter

5) Band of the Hand

6) Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins

7) Damnation Alley

8) Return of the Living Dead

More to come...

Don't really agree with you Wolfen, on the SW movies not specially when you have one of the best sequels of all time, and one of the greatest movies that should've stayed as a stand alone film/story...

Oh, and Scarface has always been overrated. Watch Carlito's Way instead.

For the most part I like Wolfens choices alot. Except for #1 ofcoarse. (Remo Williams!!! Return of the Living Dead!!! LOL! I ALSO thought that these were great back in the day!)

The Last Dragon (LEEEROY!)
Lifeforce (the naked girl)
Tarzan the Ape Man (Bo Derek doesn't do it for me anymore)
Cloak and Dagger (I so wanted to be Henry Thomas in that movie)
A Nightmare on Elm Street (Don't really know why i couldn't sleep that night)
and a ton more.
