I purchased all the old James Bonds on Blu-Ray. They work on my PS3 (although the movie's audio seems way too high/low. But back to the main thing: They won't operate on my Sony Blu-ray player. They load up (which takes forever btw), but when they load to the title/menu screen, my remote's buttons will not work. I can't change the menu from "Initiate" (play movie), to scene selection etc. Nothing works. It just sits there at the menu screen looping. All my other Blu-Rays work fine on this player (even the new Casino Royale version). I did have to update my player once though for Batman Begins. Do I have to do this again or are other people noticing this problem with these Bond films?

I've had no problems playing any of the BD Bonds on my Panasonic BD50 (but, then, I've never had any kind of problems with any BD disc in the Panny BD50 or BD30). I wonder if you just got some defective discs or if the problem you're experiencing is player specific?

Sadly it has been reported that some Sony players are having trouble reading the discs. A firmware update should be one the way.

It appears to not only effect Sony players

This really shouldn't be happening at this stage of the game.

What happens if this continues with certain releases and manufacturers stop supporting older models?

Yes, this is a big issue. It really is strange that a high profile release like the Bond movies hasn't been tested on high profile players.

it is a conspiracy to get people to keep buying new blu-ray players every six months.

This is a concern I voiced a while back on these forums. It bothered me that when I looked on the Panasonic website it actually told all the movies each patch fixed the player for. Scotsman, you are exactly right. No player gets updates for long enough. When they move onto new models they many times forget about older ones when it comes to support. I want a Blu-ray player real bad but that part of it scares me when it comes to picking one.

I have a Panasonic BD30 and a Panasonic BD50. I just now tried out the first four of the first six BD Bonds I own on both machines, and they play perfectly. I wonder if it's a matter of firmware upgrades needed with some players, or what?

Great name, by the way: Fudzilla. Are they dedicated to spreading FUD or cleaning it up? It's hard to tell.
