I just watched The Incredible Hulk and Forgetting Sara Marshall on blu ray. Both soundtracks have DTS HD Master Audio. I have the Panasonic DMP-BD10 player which decodes all HD audio except for DTS HD Master Audio (firmware version 2.4). I use an older Onyko receiver which cannot decode HD audio and I am connected via 7.1 analogue.

Both soundtracks were completely distorted and impossible to listen to. Had to switch both of them to 2 channel digital and let my receiver decode for standard Dolby Digital. Anyone have any idea why this might be? I was under the impression that the core DTS soundtrack would be pulled, but clearly not happening. Is there any chance Universal is not including a core DTS track? I thought a core DTS soundtrack is still better than the standard Dolby digital, so I would at least like to have that option.

I've never heard of this, is your player set to bitstream?

no, it is set to PCM. For standard dolby digital and standard DTS i have it set to bitsream. I can try switching that to PCM. Not sure if the core DTS track would somehow fall under the DTS option. Will try it now. Just tried it. Didn't make a difference, still distorted.

Try the AVSForum, they have forum threads for just about every Blu-ray player model.

there is a core dts track with this film. try sending pcm through the bitstream cable to your reciever, and then listen to it in stereo or prologic. my guess is that you may need a firmware update for the player.

thanks for the responses, I'll check the AVS forum. I can run it as pro logic as bladerunner suggested, but would prefer not having to do that. Panny's last firmware was for specific movies, so we'll see if a new one comes up for these titles. They have yet to respond to my email from a few days ago.
