"While many industry observers are predicting that the planned December 9 release of The Dark Knight on DVD will become the year's biggest video hit, a few others suggest that next Tuesday's release of Disney/Pixar's Wall-E should not be overlooked. They point out that animated features have a long history of dominance in home-video sales and that Wall-e is one of the few that holds as much appeal for adults as it does for children. Meanwhile, websites that focus on high-definition fare have unanimously endorsed the Blu-ray version of Wall-e as the HD gold standard. On dvdtown.com, James Plath begins his review of the Blu-ray release with the single word "Wow." He calls the picture detail "remarkable" and says that it often displays a "pleasing" 3-D quality that gives the illusion of depth "without 'popping' the figures out at you as if you were watching a film with those funny cardboard glasses.""

Wow is right. Congrats to James Plath and everyone here at DVDTown!

I also saw on theforce.net that your review of Star Wars: The Clone Wars was mentioned there. This site is getting famous.

Again all credit due to the staffers and all the great reviewers you guys have on this site.

Well done.

First off, congrats to our Managing Editor James Plath! He's also been mentioned on the "Hollywood in Hi-Def" website, and others (along with John J Puccio).

Second, the incredible quality of "Wall-E" is not surprising, considering how great both "Cars" and "Ratatouille" are on Blu-ray (I own both, also that collection of Pixar cartoons on BD). Disney should just go ahead and bring out the rest of the Pixar catalog in high-def, as they know we will buy 'em!

This does not surprise me at all. Would we come here if it sucked? I read all of the "big" publications, "Home Theater", "Widescreen Review", "Sound and Vision", "Stereophile", and this site blows them all out of the water. They are so far behind DVDTOWN, that it is not even funny. I predict that once these "print" magazines crash (Widescreen Review is already in trouble), that DVDTOWN will really take off. The staff is fantastic, and the reviews are always entertaining to read and dead on accurate. Congrats.

bladerunner... to be fair, all magazines (and newspapers) are hurting due to a continued loss of subscribers and cost of raw materials (& postage fees). Last year, THE PERFECT VISION ceased in print form and went to internet only. Before that, DVD ETC, and then HDTV ETC folded. WIDESCREEN REVIEW is a good magazine, except the size of the print (it's hard for me to read as I get older). (I'm going to have to get some reading glasses...).

Even some of the most popular magazines are getting slimmer (PC World, PC Mag, Forbes, Texas Monthly, etc).
