QoS is Bond doing Bourne. The only thing QoS lacked was the shaky camera from beginning to end.

That sounds awesome! Thanks for the recommendation...wait...huh...this is a bad thing? What?

Try harder.

Sure, sounds great. But what remains isn't Bond anymore. THAT's my point. You can't take parts of what makes something the way it is without turning into something completely different.

Take the Enterprise and Klingons and phasers out of Star Trek and you have what? Garbage. Remove the Lakers and Celtics from the NBA. Result? Meh. QoS removed a majority of the humor and the fun from CR. It was boring, quite simply.

Well I am about to go see it. If its what the reviews say, Bond as Jason Bourne, its gonna be awesome. If not I will be back on here and eat crow.

Well, to be fair, it is easy to make that comparison when the Bond producers brought in the same film editor who cut "The Bourne Supremacy," Richard Pearson, to work with co-editor Matt Chesse in editing the new Bond.

But it's different because this is the beginning of Bond. This is before the toys and before the slickness. He's a brute thug that is a piece of rough coal that will eventually become the diamond everyone loves. That's the point we are trying to make here.

Hmmm...if we go back to Casino Royale, Bond's car was slickly outfitted, wasn't it? I seem to remember a defibrillator in the glove box...I'd call that a toy. And going all the way back to Dr. No, it occurs to me Bond had a couple doo-dads to work with there, too.

About being a "thug": nice description. But he wasn't a thug in CR, so why is he one in QoS? Rather, he was smart, using his brain over brawn expect when needed.

In the opening sequence of Casino Royale, he was a thug. I remember seeing it and thinking this isn't the Bond I was used to, but I liked it.

Jason,

You finally got readers at this site to respond to something other than a super-hero movie.

Of course, it happens to be a super-spy movie, but, hey, at least it's a slight change.
