those of you who don't see the similarities to "bourne" are blind:

1) running on the rooftops and jumping from building to building
2) edited by one of the "bourne" editors
3) hero goes on a rampage after girlfriend is killed.

Posters5, or put another way, those who see the similarities are hallucinating. I mean your #1 and #3 can apply to many other movies besides Bourne...

It's like me saying, I don't like the Bourne movies because Matt Damon punched a bad guy in the face. That's been done before in Die Hard, so maybe they should've called the Bourne movies "Bourne Hard."

Whether you like the Bourne style or not is a matter of opinion, obviously.

That the film is intentionally patterned after the style is unquestionable, and John has already provided the definitive argument: they brought in the Bourne editor for crying out loud.

Good grief, some people will argue anything just for the sake of arguing.

And it looks like this Bond has just beaten Bourne Ultimatum's opening weekend by $1 M. Somewhere Eddie weeps.

Whatever guys. I'm done arguing about this one. You all should know by now I don't jump onto any bandwagons (as has been suggested), nor do I follow popular consensus (I liked Ghost Rider), nor do I overly praise or bash just to get attention. If a movie is good, I'll call it good. If not, likewise.

Can't say I'm terribly sorry I'm not following the fanboy reaction on this one.

hoodaguy,

individual elements don't make a movie similar to another movie. however, when you combine several elements, then you're being a copycat.

chris,

this movie made less than "bourne ultimatum" due to inflation.

I'm not a fanboy, I don't even own Casino Royale on BD. But I still don't think QoS is the "copycat" some people are making it out to be.

C'mon Eddie... be nice.

Hey Jason, glad to see you mention Stuart Baird (editor of "Casino Royale"). This guy has been one of the best film editors for many years. And he did a decent directing job on both "U.S. Marshals" and "Executive Decision". Similar to Bond editor-turned-director John Glen, who either edited or directed several of my favorite Bond films.

I haven't yet seen QofS, so don't have an opinion. Your mention of the plot revolving around water reminds of it's clever plot use in "Chinatown", where a murder is connected to an even more sinister plot of controlling California's water supply in the northern part of the state, as the expense of those in the lower half of the state. It's one of my favorite thrillers, and features a great musical score by the legendary Jerry Goldsmith.
