If we really have to bring up who's copying who, then I'm sorry to say the Bond franchise has been around 40+years longer. Bond was a spy before Bourne was.

As I've already stated, your points #1 and #3 can apply to many films, so that's not really an accurate judgment. By this logic, "Pans Labyrinth" is a copycat of "Hellboy" because it's fantasy, it has similar looking creatures (probably same designer), and the same director.

Also Eddie is probably the best at debating I have ever seen, truly a Master Debater.

Personally, I watched "Hellboy 2: The Golden Army" this weekend and I didn't see what all the fuss is about. It was moderately entertaining, but I expected a lot more from the reviews I've seen.
To each his own I guess.

One of my philosophies in life is to surround myself with people who challenge me in every way possible. I don't want to go through life with a bunch of "yes men" around because I won't learn anything from them. Don't agree with an opinion or think I'm doing something wrong? Please, by all means, tell me. It's how I learn. We don't necessarily have to agree all the time as long as we acknowledge we're all entitled to our own opinions. That just wouldn't be fun.
No offense taken at all. I just implore everyone to remember one thing: I don't read movie reviews. Period. I don't check star ratings or numbers or anything. It's a way I make sure each review I write is my own opinion and not something gleaned from another writer. Also remember...I liked Ghost Rider, felt Catch a Fire was undeservedly underrated and abhor Oscar winner Crash. I march to the sound of my own drummer, particularly in regard to movies. So what you'll always get is my honest impression without worrying if I'm going to piss all over a sacred cow.

For example, I watched Speed Racer recently without any real idea what it was about. I found it an amazingly well-realized live action cartoon, with a simple story that is full of heart. The movie also exists comfortably in that alternate reality, without any jarring lapses of logic or plot (something that so many blockbusters commit with devastating effect). The races are dazzling as long as you like racing, and have some tolerance for strong colors and constant movement.
Feeling bouyed after watching the movie, I went on to the internet and looked for reviews, and found that it was almostly universally panned. It appears that most movie critics dislike the visual presentation enough to overlook its other (and, to me, more impressive) merits.
What can I say? Speed Racer made me feel like a little kid again, and that's no small feat in my opinion. I can only think of a few instances in my entire life where watching a summer blockbuster truly made me feel like a wide-eyed kid:
- Speed Racer (2008)
- Spiderman (2002)
- Jurassic Park (1993)
- The Empire Strikes Back (some fuzzy old VHS in the late 80s or early 90s)

Yes, but that's the spice of being a critic. I love pissing all over movies like "The Shining" and watching Chris get all pissed at me about it.
