i have to agree with brian.

That beginning sequence was a disaster as far as coverage and editing goes. It's the new thing nowadays to show what's going on around the action and chop it down to 1sec shots and shaky pictures.

And yes, that rooftop chase was bad too. (also a rip off from bourne 3...same chase can be found in that other crappy movie called "the incredible hulk)
There's also this other moment in the film were "bourne" came to mind...very vividly, when bond attacks this other dude in his hotel apartment and kills him after a fight...which reminded the fight between bourne and dash in bourne 3. Same color palette, same coverage and the complete absence of music enhanced with only the sounds of fists, slaps, clothing and grunts.

Don't start telling me not to compare it with bourne because "this is a style" and "the movie is what it is and it's not trying to be smt else..." cause for me all that are fancy crap to say "it succeded so we ripped it off" . That's a producer saying "i want it like that" and not a director making a choice.

I love Marc Fosters' work. But i have to say, he can't do action. What is an expert on small, personal, character driven stories doing with a bond movie?

There's this one scene where he fights with a guy while they both hang from ropes (listen to the pitch of that scene, so cheesy) where he picks his gun and shoots at the guy first. And the shot stays there...with bond, after the shot, running with only the echo of the gunfire... that for me was the best moment in the movie. It preety much summed up the character at that point.

If you are a Bond fan, you will love this movie. If you loved Casino Royale, you will love this movie. Overall, I loved the movie. Granted, is not From Russia with Love or Casino Royale, but it so because it doesn't aim to. I agree with above posts on saying that this is the 'early' Bond, and that is true. Early things are almost never smooth, and this movie isn't.

Having watched all the Bond movies this year (except for Brosnan's), this does indeed feel like a Bond movie, a short, but engaging Bond movie that is missing an introduction that isn't that relevant to the overall story or that is missing a subplot that add and aids the main plot...oh, you know what I mean.

But yes, the editing of the beginning chase scene is HORRENDOUS, an atrocity to editing worldwide, and the rooftop chase scene is not as badly edited, but overall, is a great movie experience, this movie didn't disappoint me, at all.

Some people criticize what 'Quantum' is looking for, but for me it makes sense. I'm enjoying how little by little this new organization is being uncovering little by little, it just makes me wonder what they'll do in the near future. Oh, four oil covered Bond girls, out of five...

If you are a fan of bond movies, you will hate this one. Bond didn't screw any girl or used cool gadgets. The movie was really bad that I wished "M" would kill Mr. Bond in the end. Forget about comparisions to Bourne series, you will be pretty much scratching your head in despair at the title of the movie "Quantum of Solace". With all the action in the movie, it should have been called "Quantum Mechanics".

OK it's 12:15 am on a Tuesday night and I just got in from seeing QoS with my brother and 3 other friends. I think it was a good movie over all. Yes, the scene where he killed a man in his apartment was a Bourne rip off.
