"She-ra" is looking into buying a set for her bedroom. She has a budget of $1,500. The only stipulation is that it has to be in the 40-46 inch range. She would also prefer it to be 1080. Plasma or LCD, name brand or no name brand, suggestions please.

My wife picked out a 40" samsung lcd about 2 years ago from circuit city and the more I watch it the more I appreciate it. Really nice black levels and great picture quality. They make some nice hdtvs.

Toshiba Z series LCD with the Cell chip is supposed to be stupid crazy for SD playback... The PS3 based the whole system on it, the TV can't be that bad...

ok. we go to all the stores and she see's one that she likes at every one of them. i say this, she says that. so i'm done. lol. i think she may have even prefered a westinghouse over a bravia at wallmart...anyway...

i told her to get on here and ask, but she has been really busy, and promised me "favors" if i asked for her. i know we just went through this with tim (which i'd like to hear more from regarding the panny he bought.) but that has been a few months back, and there are better deals now. any specifics on the set you own, wish to own, or heard great things about would be great.

Hey BLADE, that's a pretty good budget for a bedroom TV. With that budget she should be able to get a really good TV in the size she want's. I think shop NBC has a Toshiba 46 inch LCD 1080p for 1300. Not that I shop on line with them, but I was flipping around last night and stopped to see what they had because the title of the show was Holiday Electronics.

But even Best Buy, Circuit City or even Wal Mart, she should be able to get a really nice TV for that budget.

Westinghouse is a crap-shoot. The reviews I've read were below average, 50% return rate and a common problem with HDMI connections going out.

Don't be afraid to haggle at the electronics store. The markups on flat-panel TVs are huge, we are in a recession and retail sales numbers suck so stores are willing to make crazy deals to move product. I just got an awesome 650-series 50" Samsung Plasma for $600 off the sticker price, which at CA$1599 would make it close to this budget.
