Although I have not purchased my PS3 yet, I do have a question about one feature that my current DVD player has.

Because of the nature of non-anamorphic DVDs and full screen DVDs such as TV shows or older films, my DVD player has an option to fit it to screen (for non-anamorphs) and "vertical fit" (for 1.33:1 aspect ratios) giving you the black bars on the sides.

Does the PS3 have such options? Obviously, I'll still have lots and lots of my old DVDs to play on my PS3 when I get it, and some discs like "Days of Thunder" or "Strange"Days" and even any of the 34 different versions of "The Abyss" are all non-anamorphic. My Hitchcock box sets look great in their original aspect ratio without being stretched to fit a 16x9 television, so I prefer to view it as such.

Thanks in adavnce!

Hi Dave, I'm not home so I can't be more precise about the options but if you google helpful info I'm sure will come up.

Also fellow PS3 owners Joe and Skyhawk can help with this.
