I bought today from my neighborhood Rogers Video store for $21. What a great transfer! Too darn bad there are zero and I repeat ZERO special features - just the menu options "play movie" and "scenes". The DTS MA track blew me away! LMAO, I loved it!

No extras? - what a disappointment!

I've long owned the Special Edition LaserDisc (2-disc set), and it's loaded. I especially like the two music videos (one w/ZZ Top music & film clips and new footage of Selma Hayek and George Clooney, and nother with a bluesy group performing a great song and guitar solo with clips from the movie too). I really want to have the extras for the inevitable US-market release.

And everyone needs to know (if not already) to avoid the US-market DVD as it's NOT 16x9 anamorphically enhanced!

Hey Skyhawk... how about the new Blu-ray of SIN CITY (in Canada) - are you going to pick that one up too? (it's not the Director's longer cut, but it's still Sin City).

Yes, as Sky says, the transfer is excellent, but no extras whatsoever. Same thing with "Sin City." It's a good transfer (although the black-and-white contrasts could be even deeper), but there are no extras. Which delights me no end. I'm getting really annoyed at the same tired extras on every disc I watch. They're practically interchangeable anymore. I'm with Tim: Down with exrtras. Use the additional space for higher bit rates and higher audio codecs.

Hey Hendrix, I already got Sin City on blu-ray. I also have both "Kill Bills" and "Natural Born Killers" on blu-ray. Who doesn't? Them are some of the biggest films of all time.

What I want is Planet Terror on blu-ray! If you're a friend of that sick brilliant genius Robert Rodriguez, could you please tell him to release this in hi-def in Canada immediately please?

Already have it pre-ordered from Columbia house - for $11 no less - along with Death Proof. I think it gets a release in late December.

Skyhawk... Rodriguez still lives in Austin (TX) I think, - where Eddie (posters 5) lives... maybe he can get in touch with RR! (Eddie does have a few industry connections)

I'm a fan of both of those "Grindhouse" flicks, but like many other fans, would only want to buy the theatrical edition presentation with all of those great parody trailers. So, until then, it's rentals of those 2 for me whenever I want to see 'em.

As for one import Blu-ray I'm really interested in buying - the stunning ZULU recently released in the U.K. by Paramount (region-free disc), and is receiving excellent reviews, like this one on blu-ray.com - probably will buy it before much longer.

PLANET TERROR and DEATH PROOF both come out on Blu-ray December 16 from Weinstein. It looks like they are the extended/unrated editions. I'm not sure what kind of bonus features they will have (or if they will even have those phony trailers) but hopefully I will be able to review them in the upcoming weeks for DVD Town. I've already contacted my rep and they've put me down for them.

I have the Canadian version of SIN CITY and like John mentioned, there's no bonus features. But since everyone seems to be praising the transfer of FROM DUSK TILL DAWN I might have to pick that one up, too.

No extras! I have got to pick those up before they come out with some collectors edition with all the bells and whistles and some poor critic here has to sit through all that BS and review it! Special features are such a huge waste of space and time anymore -- I love a DVD/Blu-ray that is the movie only. SF are always the same routine: a making of feature where all the actors and film creators kiss each other's butt, boring commentary, deleted scenes/outtakes, previews and now days online garbage. Half the time I can't figure out why anyone thinks it's such a big deal to have special features. A lot of this is all your fault, the message board peeps of DVDTOWN. You guys always go gaga over two and three disc sets of any movie, and that's why Hollywood keeps making all this crap because you guys keep supporting it. Tell me, do you all really watch those special features everytime you watch the movie? Do you all have "special features" party nights with friends? Think about it, who the hell even cares!? I don't think I need to see another disc with some animation tech with the personality of a roof shingle telling me how some of the cool CGI was done.

Why "yes" Tim. If I really like the movie, i usually watch the extras. But i also prefer to see these extras on disc 2, as to not cut into the presentation of the movie. Star Wars would be a great example of how extras should be handled.
