Twilight
While I don’t share my daughter’s enthusiasm, I don’t think it’s a complete disaster. I do like the concept and the attempt to add something new and original to the whole vampire genre. These vampires follow a different set of rules than we’re used to seeing, but the film felt rushed at times and then there are moments you feel the fat needed to be cut. In other words, the pacing is somewhat of a mess. I also thought the relationship between the daughter and her Chief of Police Father was just odd. I just felt that if they were going to have that kind of relationship then why even have the Fausher in the story? Also, I felt the film could have used some atmosphere either through stage sets or a darker feel in contrast. The film is essentially a love story, but the whole vampire thing didn’t seem any more frightening than watching a TNT episode of “Charmed”.

I think the creators rushed into the franchise too quickly. They have a good idea -- it just needs more of a Potter or Del Toro feel to it. I think I would have enjoyed it more had there been a dark, theatrical, haunting feel about it. It just felt like the creators rushed into it so fast as only to make a quick buck. Either they slow down and work on the fine details for the next movie or wait about five-years and try a re-boot of this movie.

Quantum of Solace
Ok, the camera is a little shakier than in CR but I loved it, none the less. As I’ve said before, I like this Bond and I love how they’ve taken out the cheesy camp of the older Bonds. IMO, this movie had very good pacing, great action sequences and I would certainly rate it as one of the better films in its franchise. The villains may have not seemed as threatening as we’ve seen in other Bond films, but as it winds up there is still something bigger out there for them to face. Not to mention, there is humor in the film, it’s just that it’s not the tongue-in-check humor of Bonds of the past. Now the humor is somewhat alternative and dark, such as a black comedy. Nevertheless, I like this new cold, calculating and all serious Bond – it just works for me.

Overall, I had fun with this movie. It had plenty of “no f-ing way that would ever happen” action, which is to be expected. I felt the film did a great job at giving us a continuation to the story and they still give us clues that there is more to be uncovered. Perhaps that will be something good for the franchise is to just continue plot lines into each future film. Nevertheless, I enjoyed what they did with this film and I can’t deny it was just a seriously fun movie for its genre.

I just saw Quantum of Solace in the theatres this weekend and it's just not as smooth as the other bond movies. i mean don't get me wrong but it felt like they needed to focus more on the plot than the action. the action was good but the plot could have been more improved.
