Hey guys, i am thinking about buying the logtech G51 speaker , and i want to use them with my xbox 360. The only thing is that the G51's dont have an optical output, so if i connect the xbox 360 to the speakers using the re dnad white cable i think i will loose the surround sound?
But if i buy one of these:

http://www.audiovisualonline.co.uk/dynamic/eshop_products.set/ref/614/digital-coaxial-to-digital-optical-toslink-converter/display.html

Will that make it able to connect the xbox to the speakers through optical, and will it give me surround sound??

Thanks In Advance

Luigi.

Yeah, if the G1's don't have an optical input, yoiu are not getting DD 5.1. The red and white RCA'a are only giving you dolby surround at best. The coax converted you are talking about helps you if you do not have any optical inputs on your receiver. You need to buy a speaker set that supports optical or coax digital. Klipsch makes awesome computer stuff. But I would save up, and at least buy an amp and speaker package, through sony or something. By the time you invest more money on computer speakers that can do what you need to do, you could have purchased a receiver and speakers. Save the money and buy something functional beyond just the XBOX 360. Really you will not be dissappointed. I haved two set ups in my home. The big system for movies, TV, and gaming. Then I have a smaller system, for TV, movies, and the gaming if I chose to bring it up. Sound is still my favorite part of entertainment!

If the unit has a digital input, which it doesn't appear to have, you will get dolby surround. not digital surround. By the looks of it it says it has a 6 channel input. IF it is a RCA single input that says 6 channel, then you need that converter box. the pics on the web are not useful. You will get DD 5.1 if there is a single rca 6 input.
