View profile »I'll never forget the "surprise" appearance that Robert Goulet made in a favorite film of mine Atlantic City [DVD] » about a half hour into the film (from director Louis Malle). This great movie is a very realistic look at A.C. during the late '70s/early '80s (some rough times), centering on just a few characters who live and work around the casinos. One of Burt Lancaster's (and Susan Sarandon's) best performances.
Goulet appears in a brief scene, singing "Atlantic City (My Old Friend)" - yet another great song composed by the legendary songwriter Paul Anka. The scene is unique, in that Susan Sarandon's character in the movie just happens to be passing by a small gathering of people where Goulet is singing one afternoon in a room lobby (not on a stage, with only a piano player there). Director Malle's direction in this movie, from scene to scene, is amazing, as everything seems so real and lifelike, and not like most movies you view.
Put it on your rental list and enjoy!
