People talk about edge enhancement & artifacts, but wow that added tint on the first movie was an eyesore.

But yeah, Reloaded and Revolutions were just a big letdown the Wachowski Brothers couldn't surpass Matrix...which is works great as a stand alone like Star Wars (Episode IV:A New Hope).

It's just that our fondness and their classic status cloud our judgement sometimes.
Reloaded wasn't THAT bad, but the rave and the burly brawl were quite lame. I remember seeing the burly brawl in theater thinking those effects looked horrible. Rubber Neo looks worse than ever in high definition form combined with today's standards. The chase sequence saves it for me.
Revolutions was a generic action movie with The Matrix brand name. The Dragonball Z aerial fight, really? Mr. Smith had become a complete overacting caricature of himself. And why the hell was Zion building exo skeleton suits that shoot bullets rather than investing in an EMP defensive system? Thats right, if they did, we wouldn't have the huge battle sequence at the end where Neo's lackey gets to be the hero and Link's wife gets to shoot rockets!

View profile »But boy did I hate Matrix Revolutions. Third time is not a charm for movie sequels.
