I feel kind of silly asking this, but I am a real techno-novice, so here goes...
I just ordered a 2-disc set ("The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor") that says it has a "free digital copy". From what I've read online, some dvds these days offer a code to download a digital copy from a website, but I think this one is supposed to be on the disc itself. Can anyone tell me how this works? If I were to take advantage of the digital copy option on the disc, do I have to be online or use a code to transfer the movie onto my computer? If I own the disc with the digital copy, can I put it on as many computers as I want (or replace a copy after a reformat)?

Thanks for your help!

1) your computer has to be connected to the internet so that your digital-copy code can be verified on a server.

2) your code will work only once.

3) you can transfer your digital copy to a portable video player (probably only a couple of times).

4) if you re-format your hard drive, then you'll lose that digital copy since your code only works once.

Thanks for your reply, poster5. What a rip-off! I know the digital copy is free", but the studios use it as a selling feature! Personally, I didn't buy the dvd for this "special bonus", but it's good to know that it isn't all it's cracked up to be. Thanks again.

Actually you can use them on anything however many times you want... and if your going through iTunes you should be able to download it again even if it's been deleted.

Sylvia don't bother, I mean if you bought in SD DVD, then pop your disc in the tray and watch it on your PC that way. I think the digital copies are way overrated and a bother to do what you have to do to watch them. I have also found that they slow your PC down after you have. As for Blu Ray. I would rather see them add the SD DVD like HD DVD did, so say my daughter wanted to watch the movie on here SD DVD player in her room she could.

I honestly like the Digital Copy. It's nice to have on your iPod, iPhone, or other portable device. Or even on your lap top.

mike,

it was bad enough when people got addicted to texting and e-mailing on their mobile phones, but now they're watching tv shows and movies when they're driving, walking, shopping, etc. these chodes cause traffic accidents, bump into people, and make themselves inviting victims for muggings.

Poster5, (eddie... right?)

Honestly... those people are retards. Yes I do fancy myself some texting from time to time, and haven't gotten as far as e-mailing... but if you're watching The Dark Knight while driving... you deserve to hand in your donor card and kill yourself. Quite frankly the only times i've ever watched video on my iPod was when I was a passenger.

It is so much easier for you to rent or borrow the movie from a friend and use copy software and make your own digital copy. Yeah Digital copy is a waste of time...
