And one cheap parting shot just because I feel like it: Not only was "Iron Man" a better film than "The Dark Knight," so was "Punisher: War Zone."

Cheap. Laughable. Pointless.
But why so bitter?

Everyone else put Dark Knight on their list. Somebody has to speak up for the defense. Or is it the prosecution?

And I thought I'd be first on the firing line for including Mamma Mia!

Chris has made his objections to TDK well known here and we should all respect him for holding true to his opinion...however misguided it might be.

Mamma Mia is also a better action movie than The Dark Knight.

Ouch! Five minutes in the penalty box for you Chris!

Wait, what kind of "action" are you talking about?

Falcon,

I'd be willing to bet Mamma Mia gets husbands more bedroom action than TDK. Not to mention brownie points to be traded in later for...er, something else...

TDK, and Ironman were clearly two of my favorites. Milk was really well done as well. I also liked Into the Wild and The Counterfeiters. I know Into the Wild was 07 but the HD DVD came out in 08'. Man on Wire was good as well. Hey what do I know...

I'm with you in some degree, Chris. When TDK came out, you mentioned that the cityscape had no character as previous Batman films. You said something about it looking like an average city, or simply Chicago. Being you mentioned that, I noticed the same, exact thing . . . and it bugged the hell out of me! I'd have to admit that it is a comic book translation, so the darkness and character in the city we've seen in other Batman films needed to be there. Unfortunately, it was not! In fact, what happened to the El from Batman Begins?

It gets any straight guy more action with the girls my good friend . . . it doesn't even have to be a musical!
Well, there are a lot of decent "chick flicks" that are very decent films. I have a daughter and she just watched "Fried Green Tomatoes" for her first time and she loved it. As a good father, I let her know it's one of my very favorite girly films . . . the truth is, it really is! I know when I was married, anytime I'd watch "Moonstruck" with the wife, I was for sure getting laid! lol

No need to be so emphatic!
True, TDK wasn't highly stylized as past movies but it certainly didn't help Schumacher's efforts, and most of what I recall from '89 is Anton Furst's sets over everything else. If anything, Gotham seemed more alive and integral as a city than ever before because that darkness and character you're yelling about seemed to be in the people populating the city. It was more Gotham, from the inside out.

BTW, the el from 'Begins' can be seen in the establishing shot just before Lau's U.S. meeting with Fox and Wayne.

It's not the same one from Batman Begins.

. . . Oh wait . . .you're a TDK fanboy. Nevermind.
