With Panasonics engineering, it will be interesting to see if any of the other ces companies step up and do something with Blu-Ray. So far to this point Sony and Pioneer have outpriced themselves with inferior players and prices... Henning, did you happen to see a demo of the 60 or 80s series player? How is the 35 treating you? I want to purchase a 35, but my wife isn't so sold on the idea of yet another player coming home.

I keep waiting for amazon to replenish the BD35K but it doesn't look like they will. I expected prices to drop after Christmas but they actually have risen. I'm shocked!

No haven't seen them yet. The 35 is still alive and spinning and I'm very happy with it. Rock solid performance and a very stable and reliable player that acts like you expect it to.

Sound interesting, and all good things if they work. But I notice their focus is on "ease" and not speed. I don't know about the rest of you, but I frankly wish that the Blu-ray engineers would stop working on bells and whistles and work on basic playback function to get that infernal load-time down to something less insufferable. Some discs can take up to three minutes to load, others 45 seconds. So there's certainly room for improvement here, and I didn't notice a thing in the release about this basic operational feature.

Another thing, this muddies the waters somewhat for people who are at the point of upgrading their initial Blu-ray player or starting anew. What success have people had with newer stand-alone Blu-ray players?

Not another useless DVD/VHS Combo Player. But that's just my opinion.

As you know I reviewed the DMP-35 and these players are fast. Not PS3 fast but up there. I have never three minutes to load times. Normal is 10 - 30 seconds.

So, my guess is that these babies are at least as fast.

The DMP-BD60 model must be coming soon because a couple reviews are out already from people that got them a bit early.

When I emailed panasonic to ask a release date they told me sometime in Spring. Wow, thanks for the help Panasonic, lol. I cannot wait as it will be my first BD player. RELEASE IT NOW!

Who Cares!!

I have 3 Blu ray players, Do I really need another one with the same opts.

The pricing is what needs to be worked out, and make them all code free.

We just watched the Region B Taken and its great.

Appleman,

I see that Amazon England has the BD of "Taken" for a little over seventeen pounds or about $25, plus shipping, which is actually cheaper than Amazon U.S.'s pre-order price of $27.99 (but no U.S. release date is given). So, yeah, if the European version plays on all BD players, it's a good deal.

It will play over here, no?

John
